I just found this design for a DIY LED floodlight, http://www.bigclive.com/flud.htm thought I'd share it as I've seen a thread or two concerning the possibilities of making one. Obviously the quality of leds used will have a large bearing on how effective the light is.
If anyone tries it let me know how it turns out as I'm thinking of making one when I can afford a load of high quality leds.

P.S. there's a lot of interesting stuff on his main page involving blowing up snack foods and making some interesting electrical devices for the technically minded.
