Just finished the read. Alot of skilled growers on this one but I think the results fell short of the original post"2 pounds in 2x4". You guys are doing the right things by testing and trying different ways. I would think that "EARL" with all his experiments would be able to get to those numbers "If it's possible at all". Alot of great info... Would love to see someone hit those target numbers from RIU. Keep up the research!!!

Just read all 31 pages and love everybodys setup. Great 1st hydro run.
My $.02 I think you could improve your yield by running a cycle timer either 30 sec on 3 off or 1 on 4 off. I have also seen an improvement from having a seperate res so that the roots just grow in mist. I believe it has to do with the increased amount of oxygen. Don't get me wrong an air stone does provide a decent amount of oxygen but not as much as just growing in the air. What problem were you having with fox farm? Were you using the grow big made for soil? |

I just made two (smaller) of these with 18 sites (6x3) based on your set up. I had extra totes lying around, so that was convenient Last edited by InsaneInTheBrain; 10-27-2009 at 11:34 PM.. |

way to close even for sea of green... unless your lollipoping tiny ass plants... my friend uses the same rubbermaid tub...55gallons and have like 10 sites in it...unless your doing some serious screening 32 is just way to many and my opinion is that a 55 gallon res is too large... i used 10 or 5 gallon tubs .. save a shit ton on water nutrients and its a pain in the ass to clean a 55 gallon bin. not to mention all the plant matter growing out of the lid... i usually give the plants at least half a foot on my systems and have no crowding issues... cheers

a port is a must to relieve some of the stress associated with this type of grow.
items needed: 1/2" pvc valve 3/4" grommet 1/2" pvc pipe pieces (parts to suit your needs) screen or other filter for drain pipe tools: 1" drill bit drill the hole as close to the bottom as possible (on flat surface only). work grommet into hole. be sure to press inside of grommet to ensure contact with edge of hole. wet the tip of a 3-4 inch piece of pvc and carefully work through hole. wrap the outer tip with plumbers tape and insert into valve. use elbows and other parts on inside to get your tip low (if you are using an in-line pump to draw fluids out), and to fashion an appropriate exit from the valve to suit your needs. i made a hose to connect to an in-line pump using other nylon parts from the hardware store. blessings! |
