Default carbon air scrubber
Here's my plan i have a box fan, could i take an air conditioner filter of the same size cover it with a layer of activated charcoal and then put another air conditioner filter over that and tape em together and put em on the fan. Would this work??? Any input would be greatly appreciated

It would work, but you won't know how efficient it is, until you try it.

Thanks for the input. I'd think it'd be efficient because of the activated charcoal being over a large surface, and the fan will have sufficient air flow.

I'm going to do the same thing in the next week or two (unless I run across something better/ cheaper).

I'm not sure if my fan will be strong enough though?
I've got a 20" WalMart round tornado fan that I'm going to try.

Maybe using a thin (1/4" - 1/2") layer of charcoal between the filters.
I know the cheap filters I buy for the house have a 1/2" lip on the side.

I think it would be easy to do this using some duct tape.

Ok, can somebody tell me this works before I waste $10...???
Does it work a little???????????
For 30 in SOG...???

If this doesn't work well, I thought about building a frame for the filter and funneling it into a 4" fan ($10+$50+...).
Edit: 4" muffine fan, $10...???

ive read alot of ppl saying that if you push too much air too fast through a carbon filter it really deminishes the results.

I've heard that it is better to pull. Don't know the reason, maybe something about 'tunneling' through the carbon.

My fan has side openings on one side, so I had to make the fan push into the filter.

Later...
