Default DIY electric sploof for grow boxes (4 pieces only)
Thought I'd contribute the only thing Ive actually made that I havent seen elsewhere on the DIY board. It's an electric "sploof" that makes your grow enviroment smell like laundry. It's basically the old "used dryer sheets in a tube" idea.

U buy THIS fan (kmart, target) as it's size is perfect for this design.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

Then you take an ordinary blank CD lid (the top of this in case your retarded)
http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11395544/CD_Blank.jpg

and cut the the middle part of the top out of the blank CD lid, basically putting a hole in the top. The more u cut out the better, just leave a little bit around the edges to keep the dryer sheets in the sploof. (they dont take much to keep them inside)

now take your CD lid, use about 1ft of duct tape to attach lid to fan. once attached put in a few dryer sheets and your done. It will make your plants smell of laundry and not ganj, and it lasts a long ass time. Mine has worked for months without changing the sheets.

It works better when the lights are on, as they heat the sheets up and release the smell.

1. Fan
2. CD lid
3. Teeny bit of tape (or if u hate tape and think its newb, use zip ties and make holes in the lid to run the zip ties thru)
4. Dryer sheets

Ive made a crued drawing 4 the folks that just cant use their imagination

Axial fans love to lose cfm and burn out quickly when you put them behind too much resistance, and dryer sheets WILL NOT be sufficient with anything flowering..
DIY carbon filters can be acceptable for alot of grows..
Get a bathroom fan and some aquarium carbon, and build a better solution before its too late..

B2KS, I agree (and usually). But some strains are rather smell free. Citral smells like dryer sheets (so I've been told). So a blanket comment like that is so-so at best. (I had a plant smell *SO* good and pungent at 3 weeks from seed, then near nothing at harvest)

PC axial fans are best with no restrictions. (especially with only 12V of juice)
Never been a fan of PC fans other then for circulation (don't need a hurricane across the plants)

Clones you know for a fact smell little enough to get a way with is one thing perhaps, but unlike alot of other stuff in a grow room, odour control must be upgraded before its actually necessary..
What is the actual plant odour like on those citrals? I've seen alot of plants where the smell of healthy vegitative plant smell overpowered the buds..

pondering my next seed order and Citral is on the list. (so, no opinion, just hear-say for the smell.)

I had tried to stay one step ahead when starting out (smell and everything). I researched the 'next step' (and its issues) Overkilled some purchases but behind on a couple too. So Overall, a break-even. Got a good groove now.

(there was a bloke here that said CO2 was the solution for *every* ailment including lack of smell. Had to chuckle after every post of his was to 'add CO2')
