Default case fans+wall plug
just cut off the head ( the little cylinder part that plugs into the appliance it was meant for ) of a 12v DC adapter (the kind that plugs into a regular outlet ) and strip it ( take off the plastic covering on the wires ) cut off the molex connector to your case fan and strip those wires too , then proceed to combine the two freshly stripped pairs of wires together with electric tape or those plastic butterfly looking things meant for electricity

Please explain how you could nearly kill yourself with a psu ?

1. you do not need too open psu at any time while building and/or using it

2. PC fans come with either a 3-4 pin connector and a molex adaptor, and the psu comes pre fitted with molex fixtures.

3. psu means you can run alot more fans safely from a single dedicated power source

4. the picture you seen of the psu mod was designed too run 12V chargers from, so has a baseplate fitted. i also explained you did'nt need too have a baseplate fitted. only bridge the (green) PSON signal cable with a earth (black wire) and plug your fans in.

if there is a problem, i am sure a moderator will remove the topic on the use of a computer power supply too run pc fans. if you think the topic should be removed then do so contact a moderator and request it be removed

. i was only trying too help people power multipul computer fans safely in small stealth grows !!!!!

whoa tamzi i didn't mean to diss you or anything
it's good that you contribute to the community
you don't have to go and act like a prick or butthurt
this is an alternative for people who don't want to have
the charge stored in your psu's capacitors fuck them up
or those of us who have lots of 12v dc adapters laying around
( i'm guilty of having a collection of like 20 of them plus various other voltages in varying quantities)

tl;dr go smoke some bud you're getting cranky

emote/ hangs head in shame

sorry Nab

i can see where the danger is if your somewhat couch locked and decided too juice up the neighbours cat.

20x 12v adaptors you need too start up a shop and get rid of them. i did'nt mean too come across all carebear'ish, just couldnt understand the danger, but looking at that pic, i have too agree, there is no marking for the power coming from the connections eg: 12v 5v etc etc.

last time i tried a 12 adaptor mod it fried a pack of 7x matched power cells (batterys) i had them vent on me and cause a little plastic blob, 3 amps was a little too much juice running into the battery pack. it kind of scared me so i went with a psu mod could run a 12v charger unit, a 5v lathe motor and a few cooling fans.

once again sorry fella no beef intended

Tamzi
