Whelp. Didnt end up near as good as I had planned. The lips on the cups made it kind of a pain in the butt to get the carbon down the side. I got it done tho for the most part, just not all that even anymore lol. I also got actual pantyhose, realizing that you do have a black ladies sock. So I will prob re-do it.

I put the opened end up against the fan right orrr? Would love if someone would post a picture of how they connect theirs to the duct. <3

Yea man, found some cups that will work from Office Depot I think. Haven't tried to make it yet, but that one looks like it will work. Well done. I am pretty sure you just take that and jam it onto the vent fan if you have one. That's what I am going to do on my setup, maybe even duck tape it if it doesn't fit.

Guess the original post was a while ago. Damn WalMart is always discontinuing their items. I went there the other day to try and find some lamp oil. Asked one of the ladies there and she said they don't carry it anymore. Why stop selling lamp oil, doesn't make sense to me lol. No go on the pencil cups either, guess they stopped carrying the two different sized cups, just one to show for.. stingy ass WalMart lol.

Why does it have to be a black ladies sock? Any pantyhose would work i would assume, right? Gotta be a certain size or anything

Im sure any style sock would work, just what he used. I had my girlfriend grab black pantyhose, and she actually got pantyhose (the full pants style) and I jsut cut off one of the legs and used it.

And I put the end of the duct work the exhaust is blowing in thru, in the open end right?

One of my favorite DIY's. If anyone's still interested, I had to make another one of these and was SOL at Walmart, but can confirm that OfficeMax was fully stocked on both cup sizes.

Did you get the same cups that I posted a picture of a page or 2 back? If not, do yours appear better?

Mine are alright, but the lip at the top is a pain.

Yeah I bought these I liked it but cost too much and I didnt like the lips either the inside cup seemed to want to fall out. I took it apart and returned my carbon to a bag. I was looking around at work last night and found a beautiful can (4"round x 10" long) all ready with screen like caps on the end. I snaked 2 of them. LOL I put 2 pieces of cut to fit filter screen on the bottom and filled with carbon, another 4" circle of screen, more carbon, etc... untill the can was filled. I used 2lbs of carbon to fill it. My question is will a 90 CFM booster fan be able to pull enough air through the can where it has a 4" opening on each end but nothing on the sides? will I have to drill/machine holes/slots in the can? I would assume I would use more of my carbon with out the holes/slots as air will have to travrel the entire 10" length of the can. Sorry if I confused anyone I'm typing fast before I head out to work.

i made one of these filters and they look great and are easy to make,but you get what you pay for.since the carbon isnt packed tight anough the smelly air gets thru with out getting scrubbed.so in all,it helps with smell but not that much.

The OfficeMax ones are the same as Wolfman's original ones from Walmart on page 1. I'm using two: one each for two sets of four 80mm PC fans. I don't have a grow yet, since I'm still in the build phase, but I tried it out by putting fresh cinnamon toast inside, and I couldn't smell a thing from outside the cab. A lot depends on how you secure it to your ventilation system; if any air has a path around the carbon, you're not going to get the full effect. Also, you want to make sure your carbon isn't in too large of chunks; crush it down a bit if it is. Not powder, but not pellets, if that makes sense.

I've never had the need for a stealth grow before, so it's always been shit everywhere, but I'm working on a stealth DWC CFL cabinet with nothing visible from the outside except for the holes in the back for ventilation. I owe the last couple of years of bud to the late great Overgrow, and I always told myself I'd give back when the time was right, and this place has the same vibe as OG, which I lurked incessantly (trying not to be so inactive since this will be my first hydro grow, and I'll probably need all the help I can get). I'm trying to help with little shit I'm finding out from my build, until I get a digital camera and start my grow and journal.
