Hey, sorry if i'm reviving an old thread last post was last month. I got everything shown to make this thing at WalMart, but they only had one size "pencil cup"? They fit inside one another but are the same size, will this still work or should I search far and wide at WalMarts for a smaller/larger pencil cup? I would think it would still work, but who knows, this thing COULD be more complicated than it looks.. something special about the sizes that makes it work just right. Eh?

One has to be bigger than the other, for this to work the activated carbon has to sorround the smaller diameter pencil cup. Otherwise the scrubber will not be efficient

This is amazing. I came to the DIY section to find a different carbon filter I saw but clicked this and looks great, very simple, and definitely cheapest method ive seen.

Im sure this has been answered already, but there are 19 pages to go through, whats smaller fan that would work with this? and about how often do you have to change carbon?

Thanks. I haven't looked at any other WalMarts yet probably have a little less than a week before the stank kicks in and I should have this done by then. I attached a bunch of pics of a "Giant" pencil cup that I found compared w/ the other 2 walmart pencil cups. Would this work or does it have to be slightly bigger?

LOL, I know what you all might be thinking... why is he posting pics of pencil cups. I won't have time to really make it for a few days so I can't really mess w/ it too much now. So if you think that the "Giant" pencil cup will work w/ this let me know! Thanks for looking at my pics of pencil cups, it's actually some pretty interesting stuff if you stare at them for 30 seconds it will start doing some whirly-gig shit. Anyways,

I sucked it up and went to wallyhell today to get the supplies andddd.. no luck.

Well I was able to get everything but the pencil cups. They had the larger one there, but only 1 and it was bent up a little. Asses need to restock. Will check again tomorrow or go by office Depot Depot.

Let me know if you find the right sized pencil cups. I am going to be searching for those this week LOL. WalMart is such crap they do need to keep their shit stocked up... well, at least it's cheap.

Yea, Im gunna run by there today if I get 5minutes. Hate going to walmart, but at least I know what im going for and where it is, so shouldnt be but a 5min trip inside and out!

Whelp. We may be out of luck using walmart. I went back today and the only one they had was the 1 big one I saw last week but was dented up. Asked one of the ladies why they didnt restock them and she scanned the item and said bc they will not longer be getting those pencil cups in stock.

Here are some I picked up from Office Depot. Hopefully they work as well.
The black one 6 1/4in tall and 4in wide. The silver one is 4inchs tall and 3 1/4in wide.
