Default help with making butter
Hi, hopefully I didnt ruin my butter, I had like 1.5 grams of shake so I decided to try making a little butter, I ground it up in a coffee grinder and then brought the butter to a boil in a pot of water, added my shake and boiled it for about 50 minutes. Then I let it cool down and poured the water mixture into a pan through a cheese cloth. The mixture has sat in my fridge for about 14 hours now and looks like this http://i35.tinypic.com/awzwpu.jpg

If I lightly hit the pan to disturb the water a little the butter is still basically liquid, nothing has really hardened. Did I ruin or do I just wait longer or put in the freezer or what?

looks like you dont have enough butter in there to form a solid layer on the top of that wide pan... i would pour the mix into a large water bottle or something, try letting the butter harden in a smaller area so it forms a better solid chunk... dont freeze it though...just put it in a cold fridge overnight

I decided to try and move it like you suggested, but I tried touching it in the center and noticed that it actually had hardened so I scooped it out with a spoon, this is what I scooped out: http://i34.tinypic.com/ih4391.jpg
I put a 5 cent piece that I found in my kitchen drawer to show size..
Is that about right for half a stick? I poured the rest of the liquid into a small bowl, filled it right up to the top of the bowl so its a lot smaller..

Are you saying you used a double boiler to boil the butter? That sounds like a good idea to keep the butter from burning.

Or did you say you put the butter in water?

uh, I just took a pot of water, brought it to a boiler and then put a half stick in the boiling water, then after that was good and melted i added the ground up shake. I went looking for more videos and all of them seem to the show the butter real green, mine is pretty much just yellow, maybe I didnt leave it on the stove long enough.

Well, I toasted an English muffin and then took like 3 of the smaller pieces in my 2nd pic and melted them on it and then spread around regular butter and added raspberry jam. Is it normal if the taste makes you want to barf? In one of my bites it must have been where the biggest piece melted because the flavor made me want to vomit, this happened the only other time I've tried eating marijuana. My cuizin baked brownies and gave me a few but he used like 1/4 with his and the brownies were old so I had to heat them up in the microwave, just trying to nibble at it made me want to vomit, I was hoping by not using that much weed that wouldnt happen but apparently its still there.

That does seem like a small amount of butter if you started with half a stick. This might be a stupid question, but are you sure it was butter and not margarine?

It shouldn't make you want to barf, unless you really hate the taste of that paticular bud maybe.

Also a half a stick of butter is a bit much for 1.5 grams of weed, at least in my opinion. For 1.5 grams, I would suggest using 1-2 tablespoons of butter. Of course this does change according to the quality of bud you are using.
