I guess my thinking is the thc is not water soluble. the oil in the butter absorbes the thc so the water is just a way to help filter out the junk and help not burn the butter while cooking. It seemed to work so I'm happy. I'll try it different ways to see what works best.

yeah i think the water is a good thing,
1. it stops the butter from burning if you forget about it.
2. it also allows you to make stronger butter, the amount of water is not a factor in the final product as you pour/cook it all away.
3. THC cannot be dissolved in water, even hot water.
4. The water you get rid off is really disgusting, i don't know exactly the process of how/why its like this but i know that its not in my butter. if you don't use water all the horrible stuff will still be in there.
i needed to take the lid of mine when cooking as the lid on made it too hot, without the water it would have defiantly burned.
some people claim their butter tastes horrible, mine tastes fine! it tastes like weed , not the really nice fresh nug smell but not bad either . maybe its the water...
