Hello all, i decided to start making the recipes that are in every issue of high times, this month it was "not your grandmas pralines." new orleans style pralines is all they are, with some coarsely ground trim thrown into it. this is how i made the pralines:

Started by gathering my ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup sugar
2 cups pralines
1/2 cup evaporated milk
Ground Trim
1 stick salted butter
1-1/2 tablespoons water

I then placed the butter, water and ganja into my double boiler. since i dont own a double boiler, i simply put a mixing bowl on top of a pot with an inch of water in the pot under the mixing bowl, and ingredients in the mixing bowl. make sure the water in the pot isnt touching the bottom of the mixing bowl. put this on low for as long as you want. i did it for two hours and my pralines are strong...

then once my green butter was done, i strained it and put it into a new pot with all of my other ingredients.

if you can see in the photo, there is a candy thermometer on the side of my pot. handy, but not needed. put this pot on medium-low heat and constantly stir the mixture. at this point, every ingredient is in the pot. stir this until it starts to thicken and become almost caramel looking. its hard to explain, but its 240 F on a candy thermometer. when the praline mix is gooey and lighter than when you began, take it off the heat and quickly slap spoonfuls onto wax paper or into mini cupcake wraps. this pic is bad, but thats what it looked like when i took it off the heatDSC00508.jpg
now i let mine cook a little too long because my boss called right when i should have taken it off. therefor, my pralines are more balls of praline ingredients, rather than something that looks like it was once soft and is now hardened. however, they taste as good as cannabis and sugar tastes, and get me very stoned.
