So a buddy of mine gave me some dried out trims stems and shake from his harvest earlier this year. I made cannabutter with 2 0z of it mixed with three sticks of butter. I then made chocolate chiip cookies. I ate the cookies (well not all of them but enough I suppose) and all I got was a nice body buzz. Is that all that is to be expected or is my ratio wrong? I'm goin to go out on a limb here and say I'm sure the smoke doesn;t have too much thc seeming as the bud of the plants weren't the best. Anyhow I still have well over 6 oz. of this mess and I wondering if an oil method would give me better results or if I should use more product in the butter. Thanks a million.

Sounds to me your ratio may be wrong, or you cooked using way excessive heat.

I have eaten cookies that have taken me to the moon.

I think chocolate bars are easier to work with as they melt at a low temp, and you dont need to worry about the oven.

The heat may have been an issue. I tried to get the mixture to a low simmer. Should it be bubbling just slightly or once in awhile? Next time i try this, should I use a double boiler?

Here's how I do cannabutter: approximately 14g of vaped weed added to 6c or so of water and 2 sticks of butter. Place in crockpot or slow cooker, bring to boil on "High" setting for a few minutes, then leave to simmer on "Low" for as long as you'd like. (I've had the best results doing this in the evening and letting it simmer through the night).

I then strain the mix using a wire strainer, until most of the particulate matter is removed. From there go to the fridge, and when everything cools pull yourself out a nice lump of Very Intoxicating Cannabutter.

I just made brownies using about that ratio maybe a bit less butter, and one small brownie will knock you on your ass. It comes down to the strengh of the weed that the trims came from, if it wasn't strong weed there won't be much thc in the trim. The trouble with increasing the amount of trim you put in the butter is that the flavor can get pretty bad. Good luck on whatever you decide to do with the rest.
