Default Submissions--FOR THE GOLD!
I made this in publisher and it is much easier edited IN publisher...But since the attachment feature does not support .pub, I converted it to a .doc which looks the same aesthetically but is harder to edit. I also include some example pictures, 4 pages total.

---While trying to upload the .doc..I exceeded the maximum size limit, is there another way I may submit my newsletter?

Well, I hope I'm not the only one submitting something, I'd feel silly

And I hope what I wrote about is ok...it's the only thing I could think of that I was really interested in writing about.

What Really Kills Brain Cells

“Smoking marijuana kills brain cells.” If you smoke marijuana you’ve probably heard this myth at some point or another. But you might not know the horrible origins of this dreadful lie.

It was Ronald Reagan who said “the most reliable scientific sources say permanent brain damage is one of the inevitable results of the use of marijuana.” What were those reliable scientific sources you ask?

In 1974, Dr. Robert G. Heath, a researcher at Tulane University in New Orleans, reported that he had found proof that marijuana caused brain damage while experimenting on monkeys. Heath reported that rhesus monkeys smoking an equivalent of 30 joints a day began to atrophy and die after just 90 days. Autopsies revealed that the monkeys who had been exposed to the marijuana smoke had more dead brain cells than the control monkeys, who had not been exposed.

How did Heath come up with these results? What were his procedures? For six years, no one knew. It took Playboy and NORML six years of requesting and suing under the Freedom of Information Act to finally receive an accurate accounting of the procedures Heath used.

Four monkeys were strapped into chairs with transparent plastic boxes surrounding their heads. The head chamber was sealed so that the smoke being pumped in wouldn’t be lost. This also meant that the carbon monoxide couldn’t escape either. Instead of the 30-joints-a-day dosage that Heath had reported, the monkeys were given the equivalent of 63 joints in five minutes, every day, for three months.

The poor monkeys were being suffocated for five minutes at a time, on a daily basis, over a period of three months. After which they were killed so that their brains could be autopsied, and the dead brain cells caused by carbon monoxide poisoning were attributed to marijuana. This was Ronald Reagan’s “reliable scientific” source.

Heath’s experiments have since been criticized for insufficient sample size and failure to control other determining factors, such as the carbon monoxide poisoning. Similar experiments, involving more monkeys and better control, have since contradicted Heath’s reported findings. But sadly, the lie based on his research is still used to frighten smokers today. And will most likely continue to be used until enough people know the truth:

marijuana doesn’t kill brain cells, lack of oxygen does. So everyone remember to breathe.

marijuana Prohibition

With most fallacies against marijuana proved to indeed be inaccurate and purposely misleading, one may wonder why marijuana remains illegal. Current history books used in public schools contain little to no information involving hemp, even though it has been a key part of civilizations since the dawn of the Agricultural Revolution. With almost one third of Americans having tried marijuana in their lifetime, how can politicians continue to base their arguments upon this Reefer Madness ideology? Perhaps the men in government aren't the problem, perhaps it is the people that are to blame, perhaps it is true after all, that the government is the people.

What has brought America to the point where it cannot get a natural plant legalized when over 60% of citizens believe it should at least be decriminalized? This inactivity on the part of the American people applies to more than just this issue; it continues on to health care debates and the criminal "justice" system. This metamorphism to a politically dulled peopl begins in the protests against the Vietnam war. As viewers watched from their now color T.V., they witnessed armed forces attempting to stop mostly violent protests and arrest said protesters. Aside from the rare picketing in Washington D.C., Americans hardly ever protest non-violently any longer. It seems we have forgotten that it is possible to protest and show that your opinion is generally held by a large amount of people. The people of France still regularly hold rallies and protests, crowding the streets of their cities, and ignoring the ignorant stereotype towards the modern French nation, they make real changes in their government by doing these things.

So instead of sitting back and complaining that most politicians use faulty information when concerning the Drug War and marijuana, attend local government meetings and bring the debate into an open forum. Perhaps the politicians secretly do support marijuana, but are afraid to lose a voter base and involvement in their party by declaring this fact; show them that even if they are losing some support, they will be gaining the support of thousands more active citizens; show them you will actually quit toking for a day and bring a driving force to the polls.

Arrest-Proof Yourself
From his years of experience as a police officer and FBI agent, Dale Carson provides an invaluable look into the criminal justice system. If you still believe cops are trying to go Rambo on drug cartels, and court is anything like the show Law & Order, this is the book for you.
Carson explains in the first chapter how getting arrested can seriously stunt your life, in terms of getting accepted for that perfect jobs. More and more companies are firing employees or not hiring based on the fact that you were arrested in your past (even if you were not convicted). While there are plenty of videos for the average grower to avoid getting busted or even raided; this short, detailed, and ‘straight to the point’ book tackles the issues of traffic stops and everyday situations like walking down the street. Even though you may think you could handle yourself well in a stressful encounter with the law, having read this book and having knowledge of the tips that could help you save your ass will make you feel very appreciative of this great source of knowledge and experience.
