• Voters Will Decide On the Marijuana Legalization Initiative

State lawmakers in Washington said that a plan to decriminalize and control marijuana’s recreational utilization will depend on voters.

If the Initiative 502 is approved, Washington could be the primary state to make marijuana’s recreational use legal and would put it at variance with federal act, which prohibits the any kind of marijuana utilization.

Sam Hunt, the representative of Olympia, who manages the House State Government & Tribal Affairs Committee which was allowing for the plan, said that the governing body wouldn’t act on it, which means that it will automatically be included in the ballot in November.

He also said that they will have further chances on this movement to talk about this concern.

Since the initiative plans new taxes against the production and utilization of marijuana, the governing body would require at least two-thirds majority vote in order to approve it.

Initiative 502 was confirmed by the office of the Secretary of State once pro-legalization supporters provided more than the needed 241,153 valid signatures.

Supporters of the initiative said that it would permit Washington to regulate the utilization of marijuana, earn money by means of taxes and would press the strong drug associations regulating the black economy. Imprisoning and placing handcuffs on individuals isn’t the only means to solve the concerns in the society concerning marijuana, according to John McKay, the former Seattle Attorney who has turned into an active supporter for drug decriminalization.

As a registered voter in the state of washington I will be voting yes on this initiative.. I think and many others in the state of Washington would like to see this plant become legal and taxed appropriatly. This so called drug is the lesser evil compared to beer and hard liquor.. I am a medical patient and i love to grow and learn how to grow my own medicine. as for a war on washington state.. thats a given as far as the federal government is concerned. ... or is it .. I think our president is letting the states decided without fully committing himself and face the republicans trying to demonize him ..

I think they are heading in the right direction. For one if it were legal, more could do research legally and come up with cures. Plenty of mainstream meds all come from nature. It is just that things like an Iranian something or another is not illegal, so it was able to be researched and that is what Digitalis is made of. As far as the mindset of Govt controlling or taxing your Pot, LOL that is like saying everyone selling goods at a swap meet is reporting the income. You will still have your Black market for whatever reason you deem necessary.

Read it, hate it. 65 pages of taking away the right to have a personal garden and give you a dui for being a daily cannabis user. All for the privilage of going to the state run liquor store and buying state grown cannabis.Three steps back and a half step forward.

Fools! Just because its legal doesn't make it the bill you want to pass! It needs amending! Just like bish said, "This is a lawyer retirement plan in sheep's clothing." There are so many loop holes in the bill. Just because it says Legalize or Decriminalize at the top doesn't make it a good thing. READ THE FINE PRINT!!!

They should make people pass a test before voting on anything, so many BS things get passed because of ignorant, uneducated, misinformed people vote and that's the plan for most politicians and lobbyists. so many people blindly follow headlines alone and don't think about the effects certain things might have. for example, currently you play it smart and don't get caught, only idiots get caught up. now lets decriminalize it, where you once would be pulled over and a little high you'd get your ticket for what ever you got pulled over for and move on, you are now catching hell for dui because its more easily attainable therefore they will be checking closer, also how much do you non medical users pay for a dime, now slap a few gov taxes on it, price will double like tobacco did a couple of years ago. think, learn, and ask questions before you vote otherwise your votes can possibly work against you

The more you vote no for whatever reason the more consciousness you put out that marijuana does not work. For every specific reason you have that says you want to wait, it generically displays to the public that 'no' is the only answer for you in your life with marijuana.

Can everyone please vote no. Please. Right now is the best its gonna get. The goverment will never decrimilize marijuana. Never. And decriminilization is what every pot smoker wants. Imagine if it wasn't illegal to smoke pot. Its common since that there would be more accidents and more people asleep at school and many many other things.I would love to see marijauna decriminilized but its just unrealistic.
