• Voters Will Decide On the Marijuana Legalization Initiative

State lawmakers in Washington said that a plan to decriminalize and control marijuana’s recreational utilization will depend on voters.

If the Initiative 502 is approved, Washington could be the primary state to make marijuana’s recreational use legal and would put it at variance with federal act, which prohibits the any kind of marijuana utilization.

Sam Hunt, the representative of Olympia, who manages the House State Government & Tribal Affairs Committee which was allowing for the plan, said that the governing body wouldn’t act on it, which means that it will automatically be included in the ballot in November.

He also said that they will have further chances on this movement to talk about this concern.

Since the initiative plans new taxes against the production and utilization of marijuana, the governing body would require at least two-thirds majority vote in order to approve it.

Initiative 502 was confirmed by the office of the Secretary of State once pro-legalization supporters provided more than the needed 241,153 valid signatures.

Supporters of the initiative said that it would permit Washington to regulate the utilization of marijuana, earn money by means of taxes and would press the strong drug associations regulating the black economy. Imprisoning and placing handcuffs on individuals isn’t the only means to solve the concerns in the society concerning marijuana, according to John McKay, the former Seattle Attorney who has turned into an active supporter for drug decriminalization.

How many chances do we get at legalization? NOT MANY! The dui stuff is there, but look at the data for Michigan with its per say DUID. Even with growing patient numbers there are less DUIDs. http://stash.norml.org/anti-i-502-bl...juana-patients Also you must be presenting impairment before they can just take your blood, and by the time you have been pulled over, questioned, do a sobriety test, get you to the hospital, its going to take some time. Your levels of THC in the blood start rapidly declining after two hours of use, so you would have to toke, get right on the road, and get pulled over immediately. The no home grow is the worst part of this. I do believe it's easier to be law abiding citizens and fight for more rights/additions to this bill rather than being criminals fighting for rights. We can't pass up a chance at legalization! If I lived in WA I would be voting yes.

If only every single American voted. Ugh. I think if I had my own country, the only law to start it out would be a law against NOT voting. Education and nationwide participation in voting a must! Good idea? :P

I definitely will be voting no on 502, what a God awful mess it create - and if anyone thinks the govenor will allow her employees to be involved in any way, shape or form, you didn't listen closely the first time...... Nothing like throwing sick people under the bus in a sad attempt to make this plant "legal" when federal law must be changed first, along with rescheduling of the drug

I also don't like the hoops I'd have to go through at additional expense to grow my own medicine, after growing my own for 3 years, I know I can trust myself to keep it organic, as well as a beloved hobby that helps pass the time in a constructive & fun way..... Its not fun having a broken body, that's for sure - don't need any extra hassles especially with medical cannabis

Have u read the law ? I'm guessing u haven't , because if u have u would know we will be way worse off. If u r under 21 and get caught with bud u will be a felon . U can't grow your own and it will be taxed at 25% now how is that better. Right now it's a ticket if u get catch. Do your homework all u r hearing is legalize I'm guessing , be smart vote no

It can be ammended after it has been passed. i dont really care at all because im not in washington, but see how many times you even get the oppourtunity to vote for the bill if 'you' reject it each time it comes up. regulated cigarettes are good enough that you dont grow hydroponic tobacco in your closet, so what would be the diff? just because they want to regulate it doesnt mean they could take away all the killer strains that we already have. if it is ever going to get legalized/decriminalized- the government IS GOING TO regulate it, bottom line. they regulate EVERYTHING. sounds to me like a bunch of whiny bitches in WA, don't be ungrateful.. this shits been illegal since loooong before you (all) have been alive, no matter how many times you get a bill up just so you can vote no and try again- it just simply will not ever happen without the federal government rubbing their dicks in it first (such as taxes/regulations.) the government cant take away the black market, jus' sayin'- that's what makes it a f*cking black market! ...shit! i guess, since you want pot legalized, but vote no every time you have the chance- you guys just must be smarter than everybody else, like a "read between the lines" type, get over yourselves... you're not any smarter or important than anybody else. get it decriminalized THEN amend the bill and work out the kinks ...or keep a negative attitude and wait a few more years before you even get a chance to vote no again.

holy shit batman, the more I read this law, the more I agree with those in this thread who have said that they need to get it right. Please people, don't take the stance that you can amend it later. Look at the amendments taking place in Michigan's MM laws right now by those FUCKED UP RIGHT WING ASSHOLES. In the case of WA, uh - Amendments or jury cases that set precedents? Whose going to fight for each and every amendment? Basically, this thing is wrong on many levels, first and foremost the level that it does not reverse any laws, it only provides, like the sensiblewashington article states, safety bubbles you must operate in or you are committing a Felony. Please READ THE LAW.... I feel like defenders of this thing are actually involved with writing it or something because I read it. Its anything but legalization.

wow 1000 bucks for even smoking up and "testing" the product in the store haha one day it will be a youtube video of a store owner getting fined up the ass for small shit like this and then the inspector will walk into the back and find a crop with ALL the paper work but still take away his license for some little thing because of his color, gotta love america. Plus if the product that you spent all your money and time on is no good then its all thrown away like garbage....like wtf i can smoke that shit still even if its shit quality. I think they went a little too hardcore about the people that like to just grow plants

Its common since that there would be more accidents and more people asleep at school and many many other things.I would love to see marijauna decriminilized but its just unrealistic.
Are you freaking serious, more accidents and students falling asleep????
The people that smoke it now will be the same people smoking it after legalization.
Why do people think that legalizing pot will instantly make the world stoned on some kind of weed that turns you into a zombie, especially coming from someone who smokes it????
