QWISO / QWET questions

Hi!
For a few months now I have been working with concentrate ( mostly with QWET, Propylene Glycol and Glycerin...) in attempt to make THC e-juice.
I like to call my quest for the liquid gold.

Anyway I found out so far that I get the best performance and taste out of mixing QWET with PG to work into any e-cig system that exists.

So my questions are mostly about QWISO and QWET as they are my main ingredients.

1-How much alcohol to great buds ratio should be used? if were using 95% or 190 proof alcohol.(ex: 28 g for 1L )
2-If I wanted to use kief only (buds dust) what ratio of alcohol to kief should I use? same alcohol choice as above.
3-If I wanted to use trim only (cheap wag) what ratio of alcohol to plant should I use? same alcohol choice as above.
4-I read about winterization but I also read that it only apply to BHO and ISO. I prefer to use ETH, should I still winterize?
5-Once you have the result, what's the THC% range, I guess we still have terpenes and other plant material...
6-PURGE!!!!, just how long at what temperature.... I don't have a coffee machine with warmer... I have been using Tassimo for so long...
I have a fondue kit that I can set to any temp above 20 C, last extraction I overcooked my oil...

A few questions about multiple wash
7-How many should we make?
8-Should I keep the result separated from the 1st wash?
9-When doing the 2nd and 3rd wash, what ratio of plant to alcohol should I use, considering they were good buds initially.

Oh that's a lot of question... I numbered them I hope it helps.
I'm asking this because I'm about to make a test and would like to tweak up my recipe.
this one is going to be 2 - 7g extraction, the 1st: 7g of good buds, the 2nd: 6g of the same good bud 1 g of kief.
I will do the 1st wash separately and a 2nd wash separately.
The end result should give, 4 different oil. i want to taste all 4 separately so i can determine taste and potency impact of kief and the 2nd wash.
Intending to use 200 ml of alcohol for each wash.

Not sure I'm knowledgable enough to answer all this but I can certainly help with a few pointers from my own exp:

1) only use as much alcohol as is needed to cover your weed/trims- more is not better just takes longer to evaporate and that goes for kief as well- you only need enough to dissolve the trichs

2) I never use heat- purge alcohol by allowing it to all evaporate at room temp but if you want to melt it after it's done evaporating I recommend only using hot water... I just boil a pot of water & float my Pyrex in it in a larger dish til it melts -it's the only heat I ever use for alcohol extractions

3) use fresh frozen material- I like to use trims that have been dried out for a few days & them frozen for 24hrs min in a mason jar

4) do your filtering in the freezer- freeze an xtra mason jar when you freeze your weed & use 2 coffee filters to filter out impurities back into the empty frozen jar before pouring out into a Pyrex dish for evap

5) use only a fan or dehumidifier to evaporate the alcohol... Can take up to 24 hrs or longer but can't rush this step IMO

6) I typically don't do a 2nd wash because it always seems to pick up a lot of green & taste like shit IMO but if you do keep it all separated- I think a 2nd wash of high quality bud might be worth the return but I usually only run trims so I don't bother- pretty sure I get mostly all the goods the 1st wash

7) winterization does not apply to qwet/qwiso only to BHO

whether running bud or trims the quantity of alcohol should remain the same- just get it all submerged

All my stuff has been in the freezer for about 2 weeks now. I was waiting till i finished my current batch before getting the next one in.

In regards to ratio I wanted to make sure I don't put not enough alcohol I think last time I did not put enough. I did cover all the plants but they were finely grinded and I think it was not enough and I may have lost some of the THC.... I did do 2 wash so I guess I kinda covered some left over but still.

The problem I have with the ratio your giving is that one could have more or less compact plant material. I understand that for kief you need less and presumably more for trim. But what is the ideal ratio, how much trichs can be dissolve in alcohol.

A lot of the info you provided is very useful, especially about the purge! I did read that heating the oil deteriorate its so I will use your technique.

Quick one, when you do your Trim extractions, how long do you wash and what alcohol do you use?

For ISO I do a very fast wash... Under 2 mins but when using everclear you'll need about 3 to 5 mins... I don't shake it or mix vigorously ...only lightly slosh it around til it starts to pick up a gold tinge... When it starts turning green you know you went a bit too long.
Can't give you a direct ratio of alcohol to weed but I know I use about 8oz of ISO to do about an oz of trims/bud... Last time I ran qwet (last week) I used a cup & a half of everclear for just over an oz of still wet trims but I think that was a bit too much. Remember the more alcohol used the longer evap will take; I honestly believe that as long as everything is submerged in alcohol whatever trichs are present will be dissolved... Anything more than that is overkill & just takes longer to evap

To shorten evaporation time I split across different plate, I know it's more scratching but it's less evap time! I also freeze before scratching, I think it's easier to scratch off when it's frozen.

I just tasted my batch as described and the kief one are superior.
The 2nd wash of the only bud is not so good in term of taste and has a green tint.
I'm still looking to get back the taste of my 1st batch... it tasted so good.

When using ethanol I will extend the initial wash time. Considering I got 1g out of the 30 sec wash and 0.5 out of the 2nd wash of 3 minutes, maybe a 2 minute wash will get me more cannaboid and taste better. Or I may add fresh kief to all my 2nd wash just to accentuate the good taste that the kief offers.

From what I'm reading I shouldn't rely on the time all that much but more the coloring of the liquid?
Also is it preferable to grind the plant material if it's good buds that we are using?

Yeah the 2nd wash is never really worth it... I just toss it out once it's been extracted. I don't grind my material but I like to let the trims get just dry enough to start to get crumbly (2-3 days drying) then I just break it up with scissors... About like you were gonna roll it up to smoke- into small 1/4" chunks...even the popcorn buds get cut in half to allow the solvent to penetrate all the trichs

So you do not recommend decarbing first?

Also, could the liquid (melted) result maybe be mixed into something that would stay liquid, to make something that could be take from a dropper bottle? (I don't smoke and am looking for more concentrated ingestion methods than the oil extractions I do for cooking wih)

If you want to decarb just bring some heat during purge. Skunkpharm has a good decarb page.
