Topical ointment for friend with Multiple sclerosis. Advice?

So a long time friend has MS which has been getting progressively worse for the last few years. For those who don't know, the pain is often debilitating and the only relief, from many doctors standpoint, is from vicadin and the other big time pain drugs. Well I am trying to help her get into the medicinal value of pot, though she is of the mindset that it's not something she wants, she tends to picture the typical stoner.

So I would love to make a topical oil, or other medicine to help with isolated pain. I can say outright that most edibles or vaping are out of the question as she hates the high aspect of weed.

Is it actually true a pain ointment can be made that will help such pain without leaving her baked, or even feeling altered? If so how, if not is there anything close?

What do I need to make this for her? I can get ahold of trimmings and bud to extract, so I I just need to know what might actually work.

Please no conjecture, just actual experience or first hand knowledge. Thanks

Look for cbd in pill form. Topicals are generally for muscle pain. It might work, idk. But cbd pills should do the trick.

You should look for a strain called ac/dc. Won't get you high, it generally comes out as 1% thc, 20% cbd. Edibles, concentrates, etc from that strain are your best bet.

You can also use the R4 strain as its just like what DK said, its 1% or less THC and 20%+ CBD and its a free strain for any one that lives in colorado, but its easy to get seeds and or Clones for.

Well i happen to be a CO resident, how can i get this? I live in a town that is not entirely mmj friendly. Colorado springs is an easy enough drive. available there?

What are the effects of such a strain? no groggyness/couchlock/giddy/etc etc just pain relief? negatives?

Thanks for the info!

there are ways to consume marijuana without all the psychoactive effects..

CBD, decarbing, .. look heavily into this matter

here is another link on decarbing!

i myself have recently made two batches of edibles with hash oils..

my first batch, i did not decarb the oil(12 grams in batch), skipped that(easy ) process, made very very fun cookies for the avg stoner, but wayyy intense for lightweights, about 100 milligrams of oil per cookie, not too bad tasting..

i then made another batch of cookies, using even more hash oil(17grams in batch), BUT, before i added my hash to the recipe, i decarbed the oil first.. Then end results were fascinating.. Each of my cookies had about 150 milligrams of oil.. more of a bitter taste on these... BUT, these things took away my (foot) pain as long as i was medicating.. AND, also really boosted my appetite more than the usual smoke.. AND, i didnt feel all high and bubbly while on these.. just pretty damn tired towards the end of dosage.. these also help me sleep through the night without waking up..

i know i am making these things wayy too strong, they are for personal use mainly.. But these edibles have been one of my most exciting discoveries with MJ..

andddd, this is just one more link i really hope you all enjoy.. I myself am trying to figure out how to help my grandmother..

Sorry, I'm from Cali. Anything east of Oakland might as well be in Siberia as far as I'm concerned. I have no idea what the good high cbd strains are going around Colorado. Maybe ask the Colorado patients section on the forum. Wish I could help more...

I just got ahold of AC/DC myself, haven't flowered it yet, just got a cannabinoid profile. With no THC in it, it shouldn't give you any stoned effects.

I've tried other high cbd strains, but those had more thc in them (my cannatonic is 4% thc, 20% cbd. No giddy/high effects, I did notice a very mild head change, but it was really subtle. You barely notice it. Was just pain relief.

But you're not looking for pain relief primarily hear. CBD does more than that for MS. For MS it'll actually protect the nervous system and relax the nervous system. This is why I don't think a topical will be as effect. Topicals are used for muscle tightness, not for effects on the nervous system generally. I could be mistaken there, but I don't think so. I don't think it penetrates that deep.

I've given MS patients dabs of cannatonic amber glass, and wow. The effects were immediate and obvious. But cannatonic does have thc in it. When in concentrate form like amber glass it will get you high.

You're really looking for something very specific here. If you were in Cali I could help you out with that, but like I said, I don't know shit about Colorado.

You need to ask around about strains or products with no thc and only cbd in them.

a popular cut going around Michigan right now is the Cannatonic X strain, which is showing test results here at around 17% cbd and 0% thc. some growers are charging disturbing amounts of money for a single clone, I've heard as much as $400. stupid. if you know the right people, its around the country right now though.

this would make a killer salve IMO. check out this guy, he makes an easy one that I will be replicating soon, as I have a patient with MS as well, and I'm trying to secure my cut of the x version, it is not related to the cannatonic cut by CBD Crew seeds.

That's fucking stupid. Out here in Cali we give away these pure medical strains for free just to make sure they get around.

We have excellent results with MS patients using Skunk Pharm Researches HAOT topical ointment, and it works whether it is made from stems and fan leaves, or from prime bud. Once you flood the sensors with cannabinoids, enough is enough. We add coconut oil, cinnamon, myrrh, and Emu Oil to oil concentrates, to help speed up their uptake and effectivness.

Very interesting. Didn't know you could do that.
