well, wont do that again, prolly 3g... I'l lstick with packin it tight, thinkin maybe the resistance keeps the tane in contact with the mj a little longer, or at least more completely, plus Tami recommends it..... . did 2-3 packed ozs of it yesterday and got 11 grams of yellow slick after purging. might be more to his techniqe I dont understand, and his was not yellow clear when dry I think.

I think I would have serious regrets if I didn't get at least the deluxe package. You really need the pressure gauge especially. The thermometer I've found extremely helpful as well.

You can't really recover much tane if you're using cans to fill it because you're recovery tank will eventually get filled with pressurized propane. You need the pressure gauge to let you know when to purge the pressure off. After a couple runs it got to the point where my recovery tank only had ~30 grams in it but my tank was at 60psi. Once I figured out that was the issue now I'm able to recover most of my tane by pressure checking. My last run I recovered over 250 grams. Before I figured out the pressure issue I was barely recovering anything.

dan,
you right, the delux is tops. I dont use the pressure guage, or the laser temp, but I do use pure(r) tane, costing only 200 bucks, rather than the delux addition of 500. I have the delux, and dont regret it. the special valves for safety is worth it. the unit is on a scale for checking contents, and the butane will stop flowing (audible) when it compresses the air in the recovery tank, which is frozen, to keep the tane in a liquid state. I keep the bleeder open slightly during the 1 hour recovery to let the air excape, but the tane is liquid at the bottom.

all this math...geesh. all four of the hormones you'll ever need are available already to go, and diluted perfectly for "dropper" measurements for a few dollars. I could never reinvent that wheel! good going nitro....my heads imploding now trying to comprehend the numbers, not sure why, but addictive

caroline is a very nice person at kitchen culture, but she dont root marijuana either. all the supplies are there, but no mj mixes, so at least we can have fun with our begonias and lillies!!

The more I read the more I am liking this thing, question: Has any one run the same material twice through the tan?

sure have, !.. it turns out the second run is dirtier with really high cbd's, useful for some. The second run is square business run for medicated capsules or candy, without the sweating, heart thump, and psycho activity the thc causes, some people. But for any serious application of highest possible thc, first run is the whip !, after the first run, the weed inside smells like hay and the trichs are empty/dissolved.
stick with the one run for premium product

I have done a complete 180, I want one so bad. Question: Compared to the tube method which most people use how does this method deal with plant matter going into the product?

i take my "stale",and the shake from my hanging dryer nets, as well as any substandard weed, like small buds, fluff, etc and crush by hand in a zip lock bag until 1/3 full, push a small coffee filter in the bottom, then jam pack the weed with a 1" dowel until full. room temp works best.

more weight is had from using alcohol/acetone/naptha, etc, but simply because theres more junky materials in the oil, hence its darker color. it's all about matching up the polarity of the solvent to the polarity of the end result desired. this stuff is all but clear yellow if done correctly. and with food grade organic solvents, sealed from outside air or fire, and reusable.....its a no brainer for me, and a responsible move as a caregiver. paid for itself quickly, in butane and superior specialty product.

the rectangular pan has 10ml of 99% alcohol in it in the picture, and zero butane.

HI Dan, seems we may have the same schedules??

Iused steel wool until just a week or so ago. I'm stuck on a rip of coffee filters in the bottom now, instead of re using the steel wool. problem with new wool each time, is that it has oil on the wool, which should be extracted, before the herb is. I used to shake it out, but always ended up with a spec or two,so now include the paper to skip a post extract step..with paper it is crystal clear from the tamisium, just like the pics

On my last run using coffee filters I had quite a bit of trim get into the extraction chamber. I'm not using new wool every time, I'm washing it in ISO after each run.

does the glass tube recycle your butane?
No. But it does allow me to do a significantly larger volume than a tami. With a tami you can make about 20 g's in a day. But that would take you all day. With just plain glass tubes you can make as much as you want in a day.

Also, you can't really make wax in a tami. You'll either get amber glass or purple goop. Honey comb is the most popular consistency for concentrates right now, so I'd rather have that than just oil.
