Anyone know where to get good black hash?

Ive got several friends who grow for dispensaries, and a few who refine hash, and Ive been in lots of dispensaries and looked at their stock, and all the hash is pretty much the same, powdery and green, or light brown, or lots of hash oils. Sometimes its pressed, sometimes its loose, but none of it is what I am looking for. When I was in college 10 years ago in a non MMJ state, where hash was a rare delicacy, I found a connection for some badass afghan style hash that looked like a coffee bean when it was rolled up, or a chocolate bar, and a pinch of it would glue me to the couch for the evening. It smelled spicy and burned forever. It was about the consistency of a chocolate powerbar I havent been able to find anything comparable in the area. I think its called black hash. Any suggestions?

You can make the same stuff as Afghan Black Hash with any bubble hash 120 micron or lower, just work it a lil to break open the heads and get that nice deep black resinous texture you like. By work it I mean mush and roll it around in your fingers until your hand cramps up.
That black stuff your talking about is just lots and lots of keef " trics and tric heads" pressed tightly together then heated . Here is a video of the guys working with keef, the trichomes off the plants and then pressing and heating.

What I like about the stuff I got was that it was very dense and could be pinched off by hand and burned forever. Im pretty sure both heat and pressure are involved in the making of it. Im doing more research now.

OOoo, thanks for the link. I watched the rest of the videos and I didnt realize it was quite so simple a process, so the thought of making my own didnt even cross my mind. I blame the weed for that I do happen to have a 12 ton hydraulic press about 6 feet away from my grow too. Im definitely going to try this after my next grow since I will be growing some indicas then too. Right now, Ive just got a few sativas. It still surprises me though that with all the selection at the dispensaries, I havent seen any.

Reminds me of pressed keif, never thought to use a true press though, but i guess i have never really had enough keif to justify that. Maybe i will get a screen and try this, although i imagine that bowl is going to be hard to find.

pressed kief never did it for me like this stuff did. It always crumbled apart and burned funny. But this stuff was a dream to smoke and is what nearly caused me to fail my freshman year of college.

I think the bowl and screen method would require a bit too much effort, but is neat how they do it. Ive got friends who refine hash, so Ive got access to some neat homemade vibrating kief separators and such. I just always wondered how it went from powdered kief to that sticky brown silly putty stuff and why, with all the selection in the state, I hadnt run across it. Itll be a while before I have an appreciable amount of indica kief unless I go buy some, but in the meantime, Id love to find some already prepared.

You are not the only one that can make good hash.

oh and to the op i will post a picture of what it looks like after i vape it ! you can take that nice black and cover a bowl and get dual use out of it

could be any number of factors, the 120 micron for sieving the hash could be too small or big for your specific trichs/resin heads, I mean every plant produces different sized glands (am I right or wrong here?)

the people who sieved it could've been pressing too hard or vigorously.

contaminates or mold?

that black hash you were smoking, could have been mixed with opium or something, which isn't unheard of.

true that colorado was flooded 20 and 30 years ago with black opium hash from turkey!

I too had connection to a black hash source way back in college, and I did flunk out second semester because of it. Lucky I stuck around and finished though..
But as many happy memories of that time, I think I now prefer a nice blonde hash over the black hash.
From what I understand is the blonde is more of the pure tricomes while the black has the tricomes also, but also has plant material, which is why its black.
its just in the production methods, but each to their own, rock on!!

From my experience different strains make very different hashes, Mazar makes lots of hash that turn out all amber and cateye lookin while other strains like Barneys Purple turn out some really dark almost black looking tar. Some help more than others but they are all 40-65% THC compared to 18-25% from buds. I have only made bubbles hash thus far and have been saving for a Co2 super critical extractor to make earwax and oils with. my hash looks like Colonuggs so I must be doing something right

What I'm doing is making cryogenically frozen hash oil from good bud + its sweet leaf... All fan leaf is junk, if you cant see it covered with crystals then don't waist your time. I extract all thc and no junk in my speical oil (around 95% thc) then make what I call 50% 50%.... The dispencarys make something like it and call it peanut butter hash. ( they use 1 to 2 parts hash oil to 7 to 8 parts keef and press ) I'm a animal and NEED the best so I make the best... Lol I use 10 grams cryo oil heat it very little enough to turn back to goo.. Then mix 8 grams of keef or bubble hash powder from the number 25* bag and stir it together then in freezer for 15 mins to re harden the oil then back out and start working in the last two grams.. Then I work it by hand with the dry powder to protect from sticking as I work it to be "touchable" and shape it into a Tutsiroll. And bam you got the most hard core hash/hash oil that you can impress and "shock and awe people" most normal smokers can handle 2-4 hits tops before the weed sickness will take effect. With a small waffer on a bowl of green it melts and bubbles in to protect it and will burn for at least 30 hits!!! I know very few other hard core medical smokers where even the best green can't kill the pain and even then we don't smoke more than 2 grams of green and .50 of a gram of 50%50 and be truely 100% satisfied!! Mabey that black hash you loved so much was a result of someone elce "cheating" and making something so far beyond any type of normal hash. You prolly had the 7 part hash to 1 part hash oil I'm betting you physically cant tell that it has been messed with. Where I load mine up to the max to where you can defentaly tell that it has been altered. The texture is much softer... You got to burn it and melt it into the bowl like monkeys blood opium.. Or you'll learn how much it expands the hard way if you just try to light it up lol...
