Okay so here it is:

My finalized plan for my grow box is to use the rubbermaid tubs. I have a hood for a light for a lizard so I'm going to put a higher watt CFL in there for above the plants (both of them) and I'm going to keep a Y bracket on eaither side of them:

ex. < > = y brackets | = high watt CFL from above

< plant | plant >

Sound like enough light to start? Once it starts to srpout up I'm just going to add more Y bracket set-ups to account for height.

I'm going to put 2 fans in the top of the box, one inside to circulate air, and maybe one on the bottom for intake. Other than that I think I have everything figured out.

edit: the lights on the sides will probably be lower watts, I have the warm/cool light situation figured out, I just have it written down in my grow book and I don't have that with me

id say for the 2 plants you'd want around 175 - 200 watts for them at a minimum... any less then that and i dont think youd see anything really good

100 on the top and 4 - 26 watts around the sides if you are with your set up

the best set up for a rubbermaid is 6 - 42 watt lights with 3 light figures and y breaks and a flour tube up the side...

when i did mine i had a 26 watt flour between the two plants and 10 - 23 watt ones, i kept on having to add more and more till i got to 10... doing it again id go with less lights and more watts

also youre going to have a super rough time venting that from the sounds of youre set up... put 2 large computer fans, or 1 inline fan at the top... and a passive intake at the bottom (no fan) which is a little bit bigger then the holes for the fans

Size for the passive intake is definitely important. I've got a 120mm fan for the exhaust at the top of my box and about 1.5 inch hole in the bottom for passive intake. When I seal up the box the heat goes sky high. If I crack the seal on the box, the temp drops. I was wondering what size hole I should have and I believe that question has just been answered.

Yeah that sounds good (the fans and passive setup). I'm starting with the big light above at 2 on either side, and once it starts to grow up im going to add more Y brackets to match the height, so by the end I'll probably have 2-3 Y brackets on either side, accounting for maybe 6-9 low wattage CFL's, is that what you mean?

Thanks but due to the fact that I'm in this forum and not that I can't see the pics, and I don't really want to sign up. I think I've got it all figured out, I've read about 3-4 DIT rubbermaid step-by-steps, I just wanted to finalize some things.

I should be starting the grow in a week/week and a half, I'l throw some pics up and you guys can tell me how shitty I am at growing to help me along. Thanks everyone!

the only advice i can give is that you'll want bigger wattage cfls rather then more of them to start

and watch for the heat, 6 - 23 watt bulbs in a rubbermaid can easly go to 100+ temps

I want to have a high watt bulb from above, should I just put the Y brackets so the 2 bulbs sit above one another instead of beside, and just use 4 higher watt CFL's?
