hey guys so i wanna grow about 5 plants and i already have a 150 watt cfl, so is that enough wattage for 1 plant,would i need to get five 150 watt cfl's too grow 5 plants or should i get like 8 or 9 100 watt cfl's whats better?

k first of all, actually read what your lights say, cause you dont have a 150 watt cfl, you have a 42 wattt which now outputs the SAME AMOUNT OF LUMENS as a 150 incandescent, which ARE SHIT, sorry its just misleading and every person somehow cant figure out on theyre own that they dont have a 150 watt cfl, cause you wouldnt have room for 4 more 150s or 10 more 100s, theyre a foot long!

pretty much go read around the forums cause you are still talking about watts and such, watts dont mean shit its lumen to watt ratio and lumen to lux to watt ratio along with how many amps your lights take, its much more complicated you gotta do some major research on your lights and shit man cause you dont even know the spectrum, the lumens, the lux, nothing you need to know to grow successfully with cfls, especially 5 plants thats a lot of care, i started with 5, and i now have 2 because of males and shit and its still a bitch to keep up with

you first want to know what the kelvin # is the lower like 2700k is for flowering and the higher 6200 or so is for veg. with cfl`s i have found it works better to have more lower wattageones than bigger ones. you have more control over placement and less heat

yeah i just picked up a 150 watt cfl, it is fucking gigantic and i suspect it throws off about 10,000 lumens but this is a guess after adding up the lumens from 40 watt CFLS i plan on using it in veg and flowering with an HPS but i was wondering if you have used your 150 watter yet kushking? what is the heat like? the kelvin rating for this one is 6500, and i think thats ideal for veg but it also says it throws off all spectrums so the only way to find out is to use it i guess
