Does anyone have any experience with this setup? It looks pretty good to me and it seems to be priced not much above cost.



1 x 3 bulb reflector
2 x 105W 30K Spirals,
2 x 105W 65K Spirals
1 x 105W 50K Tube

Can be set up to be used for both the pure vegetative and the pure flowering configurations.

They claim it kicks out "an unbelieveable 17,000* LUMENS!!" (minimum).

$300 incl. shipping

I'm looking to grow a maximum of four plants in a very confined space (2' x 2' x 3') so I just don't want to deal with the heat from a HPS system. I figure these lights + a battery of eight or twelve 100W equivalent "daylight" cfls should be plenty of light.

Any comments—apart from than the inevitable "dude you could buy a HPS system for that kind of money"?

I only say this because that device will produce a nice amount of heat so dude why not just buy a small 400WHps kit including ballast and vented hood for that kind of money>>> Don't hit me

300 watts of CFL's isn't going to produce any less heat then 300 watts of HPS..

for around 300 bucks a 400hps wil pump out 55, 000 lumens. And the cfl's will put out some heat too, don't be fooled...

I've used them all dude and please don't judge my number of posts ofr experience as that will only give you an assumed idea. Dude I've been groing for some time and I've used almost all systems. I used to buy kits, now I just build them general knowledge. Yes a 400 HPS gets hot but I can't hold a 42wCFL for more than 10 seconds. That gets hot too. You're talking more CFL's grouped together at a higher wattage.

I'm only saying that for your hard-earned money, I'd rather see you buy something you can contunue seeing results from for years to come. Great system for veg but when it comes to flowering, you're going to end up with fluffy weed. I preffer rock hard nugs. Then again I use 1000WHPS but I still have my 1st 400 and I use that for my seedlings before vegging with 1000. Good Luck and Good Growing. Whatever decision you make, I'm sure it'll be a good one as I know your friends here will point you into the right direction.

CFL's aren't as efficient as HID lights, and also their ballasts are what produce most of the heat. CFL's have the ballast attached to the bulb, which means it will be in the grow area too. HID's usually have remote ballasts that can be out of the area where the bulb is reducing the ambient temp.

2x2x3 is way too small to fit 300-400 watts of light anyways. With a 400W HPS you wont want the light much closer than 18 inches to the plants, cfls need to be closer because they're much weaker in comparison through lumens which make them better for small grows. I wouldn't even try to fit 300 watts of CFLS in that size space though.

why is everyone alwayse going to the 400 watt HPS right away.. i mean small space need small lights
so say hello to my lil friend called the 150watt HPS 150 watt HID High Pressure Sodium Bulbs: 1000Bulbs.com

would fit perfectly, and all u need is a cooled hood and heat aint an issue
bulbs are about 6$, while the ballast is 44, that means u got ur complete lite setup for $50! even if ur hood cost you $100 ur still at half the price, and a higher intensity bulb and half the power... worst case cenario you put 2 150 watters in there, still less money and ur getting a wayy better intensity of light

My only point is that there is no substitute to a gas lamp... END OF STORY! But hey just my 2 cents.
