Test Run - good results

My first run in over a decade but had years and years of practice before my break .

I had started 4 and ended up with 2 chicks . I had and still have intentions of a 600HPS but had to buy a lawnmower as well as brakes and rotors for my car . I only want to go to the grow store once and want to have enough for everything including the proper exhaust so I decided to use my veg lights to see how it went . I have a 6 tube T5 and an assortment of larger CFL's .

I decided while this was a small run to try some cheaper foods and medium . The medium is about 35% MG Organic , 50% Pro-Mix , and the rest worm castings . I fed them MG all purpose , tomato , and bloom alternating the first 2 during veg . I will switch to something with less N here soon as I am now 2 weeks in and want to cut back on the green growth . I am using molasses , brown corn syrup , epsom salts and super thrive every few waterings . I am using yeast and sugar for CO2 . I will use an organic food for the end of the cycle .

I intended at first to just use things available at a Walmart Supercenter (the ones with grocery store) but I wanted a bit more intensity with lights and the CFL's available there aren't as bright as the ones I can get at my local electronic supply . I will be using the 6 tube T5 for mamas and veg so I figured I might as well use it now . Purchased that with tubes and the cord I had to connect for like $185 total .

Even the seeds are from a bag of "kinda" that I got in the Walmart parking lot .

Anyways , it seems plants will grow well with readily available products .

These are 2 weeks into flowering in 3 gallon pots . I think I would of been happier with 5 gallon .

(hope the pictures load)

Edit - I just added the T5 a week ago

The tops look yellow form the flash . They are as green as the rest of the plants .

I should add I use water from a water filter system hooked up to my sink . I am on city water .

I read on one of the posts that tap water, either hot or cold, has all kinds of deposits and minerals so its not the "best" to use. From what i understand, from all the hours reading, tap is okay, but not preferred. as long as your water's pH is within 6-7 (depending which expert you ask) you should be okay. If it's too high use vinegar (only drops per liter make a big difference so if you put too much empty out some water and refill with straight tap/filtered). or if it's too low use baking soda. But with all that being said, your plants looks awesome so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Yeah , started using vinegar a good 15 years or so ago to lower ph . When I did hydro where ph is less forgiving I used a ph up/down kit from a hydro store .

I used to keep a small reservoir that I ran through a filter that I put an aerator in to get the impurities out but the water at this house seems to be okay . I think the oxygenated water helped growth as well but I never ran a controlled test .

Thanks .

Though these are from the same bag they are obviously an unstable hybrid strain . i will post some pics in a few days so you can see how different they are .

I think I am going to start a journal in the appropriate section . This looks as if it is going to get interesting .

Here ya go - a week later .

The cut leaves and the bit of burning is a result of me testing the proximity of different shape and wattage CFL's and burning . I got enough info and have suspended the tests . Don't want to do anymore damage to the gals .

These are from the same bag but look like they are an unstable hybrid . So , here's hoping they smoke a lot different but both well -:joint:

Thanks . They are only 26 in so they will fill out real nice I am guessing. The bushier one just started to really form flowers in the last few days. The one that is budding hard should have some serious nugs on it in another month or so.

For under 4 weeks in flowering and random seeds I can't complain and won't - I actually feel blessed to have gotten that good of genetics from 2 dime bags that were stuffed in the little blue ghetto bags.

What do you mean ? When the budding is most vigorous ? I was really losing hope with these . Thursday I was going to take pictures again since it had been about a week and they looked about the same but they doubled in size the last 2 days. They are just hitting their stride - the one with the bigger buds the most so. The bushier one seems like it might go for a long long time - I hope it does and has that sweet sweet old school Mexican sativa taste and high! Thought these were gonna be more sativa like but they seem more hybrid now but some of the northern Mexican strains we had back in the 80's had medium leaves like these.

I am just happy they are doing well. I planted 4 seeds on a whim in the midsts of fighting cancer. I wanted to see if I still had it while I got the money together for a proper room. I just need to get the new light and the new seeds. gonna get one or the other in the next week.

My dilemma ? Get the light and get everything these plants have to offer or get the seeds and have them ready to go under the light a few weeks after it gets here. I have some other seeds from the same strain ready to go in the flower room, some clones from the buddier one ready to go in (the bushier one's just rooted) and have a couple from a more indica.

So , get the light now and have a better yield from these and the next 2 rounds or get the proven genetics .

What would you guys do?

no when you buy a seed it tells you the flowering time like (e.g) 7-8 weeks thats just in flowering NOT INC 4-5 weeks of vegging ....
so around 7-8 weeks into flowering all the white hairs start to turn amber (PEAK FLOWERING TIME) is around 50/50 white/amber (50% white 50% amber)
