PURple Purple is perfect for all stages of plant growth, germination, root development, tuber and bulb formation and gives lots of internodal growth, and budsites. Great for orchids, cacti, ethnobotanicals, coral, sea plants etc. A small amount of NEAR UV ensures good production of essential oils - Great for Basil and other aromatic herbs.
BLUE. stimulates chlorophyll production more than any other colour, encouraging thick leaves, strong stems and compact vegatitive and leafy growth, keeps internodes close. Great for seedlings and cuttings. Perfect for plants cropped before flowering stage, such as lettuce and cress. With only blue light your plants stay short, and maturity takes much longer
RED encouages maturation of fruit and flowers towards the end of growth cycle. Use exclusively for the finishing period to maximise your fruit or flower yields. Perfect for flowers, peppers, and tomatoes. Too much red and no blue early on will S...t......r....e.......t.....c....h... your plants and increase internode distance.

the 2700 k are most important after you start 12-12 to promote bud sites and move the plant into the flowering stage... your gonna want to mix up your lights with daylight and bright white for veg and bright white and soft white for Flowering. Ive added a very very very good source of light.. lowes has 4 ft t12 with 2 bulbs in each for 8 dollars... they use the same name bulb soft white daylight ect ect but they are nice for covering a large area or surrounding your plant.. with two units im putting out 12,000 lums just with flouro and 4700 in cfl more than enough for five plants check out my grow its in my sig.. you can read the whole thing and see the difference in the begging i was like you asking questions and trial and error then watch my grow change as i got more info and found more lights cheap.. now its 1/2 to 3/4 oz per plant no hps and nice nuggets
