1st Tub CFL Grow w/ bagseed

I am new here still and I just thought I would share my grow with you all.

Both plants are from a good quality bagseed but they look to be different strains. Plant number 1 is a single growth and is now about 30 inches high with a width of about 20 inches. Plant number 2 has two tops, 1 being about 23 inches high and the other being about 18 inches high.

To be honest, I had no idea what I was doing at first and vegged both plants for about 71 days. The plants are now 16 days into flowering. Plant #2 has been suffering some problems the past couple days and leaves are starting to turn yellow near the bottom. I have a gnat issue in both plants and have been treating with insecticide. I will be applying sand to the top layer of the soil most likely today.

14 lights total: 6 - 42w 2700k, 8 - 23w 2700k

-Nice, man. What other kinds of lights do you plan on running when flowing? Just Soft White CFL?

I don't know if I am going to add any more lights. I already have 6 42w 2700k and 8 23w 2700k. Can you think of any other lights to add besides hps? I only have 2 plants. I was thinking of using an additional 8 6500k lights that I have left over but I am not sure if that would be beneficial or overkill. I was thinking of adding reflectors to the lights but I don't know how much this would help. I noticed a lot of people don't use reflectors for their grows on here. Any help is appreciated!!!

Anybody have any suggestions for additional lighting? I will be posting more pics tomorrow when the girls wake up.

Day 89 Total: Day 17 of flowering

Plants were last watered on May 24th. Added sand to pots to help control gnat problem. I will be using Jack's Blossom Booster (10-30-20) for my fertilizer. On my next watering, I was thinking about using one gallon of 80% distilled water and 20% H2O2. Lighting is 12/12.

The lights fell a few times during the vegetative stage and it singed some of the leaves. The plants still remain strong and healthy with minimal stress.

Plant #1: This plant is doing great for the most part except for a few discolored leaves. The bud sites are starting to show lots of pistils. The main kola has over 30 pistils.

Plant #2: I am a bit worried as a lot of the lower leaves are turning yellow and some browning in the middle of some the leaves. The bud sites are really close to the stalk of the plant. The brown discoloration may be due to molasses that's when I first noticed it.(Pictures 16 & 17 show the brown spots on the leaves) It is not due to the leaves being burned even though I did burn a few in the veg state. This plant looked really mutated during it's seedling stage. I will try and find a picture to show what I started with compared to what it is now.

Both plant's buds keep growing more everyday!

I was thinking about adding 2 additional 42w 2700k? Does anyone think that is too much light? That would be put me at a total of 16 lights if I did that.

looks like my plants in veg when the bulbs get too close ive notice certain cfls you cant put as close as an inch away as some get hotter than others

Day 90 Total: Day 18 of flowering

Not much has changed in either plant. Plant #2 still has a lot of water in it's bucket. I don't know if I have a drainage problem or what. I haven't had much new growth on plant #2 height wise in the past couple weeks, some slight new growth at the bottom of the plant and tops of the kolas. I added one additional 42w and broke another one I just bought. I also adjusted the lights today to allow for better lighting.

If anybody wants to see pics from today let me know.

Day 91 Total: Day 19 of Flowering

So yesterday I added some reflectors to a few of the lights. I used the soda can method to make reflectors. So instead of cutting the top and bottom of each can I used a can opener. It makes cutting the cans a lot easier and gives it smoother edges. (link below)

I also added 4 26w 6500k cfls, one additional 42w 2700k cfl bulb, and a large fan to help push out hot air.

This brings me to a total of 19 CFLs:

7 - 42w 2700k
8 - 23w 2700k
4 - 26w 6500k

Plant #1: Pistils are really getting huge on this plant and the main kola looks a little fatter today. The plant still seems to be at 30 inches high and 20 inches in width.

Plant #2: It looks pretty much the same. The main kola is about 24 inches and the second kola is about 18 inches high.

I am letting both plants get as dry as much as possible before there next watering.
