| | 1st timer, needing help and advice! | | hi there
how are you all?
i just had some general questions about my grow.
when the cotyledon's die off, and go yellow/brown, is it time to start feedng?
i have Miracle Grow All purpose plant food 15:13.1:12.4 and it says to use one small scoop, to a litre of water...therefore, should i mix it to 1/4 strength? so 1/4 of a small scoop to one litre of water? is this plant food even use-able?
and i also have POT 'N' PEAT Potting Mix, newbie question, but is this ok to use for a new growing medium when i transplant it out of its small pot into a larger one? and is it a soil? like would i need to add soil to the pot n peat? or is the 'pot' part meaning soil? confused, new to this..
im also in the process of making a diy reflector out of cardboard, and ill b lining it with the same stuff i have put up around my grow box, its the reflective side of a car shun shade. seems to work well.
please, any answers or just advice for a newbie like me??
Laterz 'n' Shizz.

| | Some Advice from another newbie! | | Plants have enough nutrients of their own for the first 2 or 3 weeks of their life. You should not feed them till this point from what I understand. When you do begin feeding look for a mix of 20-20-20 or 20-5-10. Make sure the first number is the biggest - this is the Nitrogen Cannabis plants crave in their vegatative growth cycle. Is that reflective material creating hot spots on your leaves? It may do that because it beams lights at particular spots instead of just reflecting -you could try white-works best I hear. |

| | cool, thanks man, yeah my leaves are going a lil discoloured, like yellow-ish, thanks, ill paint my box white, ill post pics as soon as my phone starts working with my comp, its being odd.
my fertilizer is 15 10 6 i think, but the first number is definitely highest. and i havent started using it yet, my plant is still in its second pot, its pretty small so i will move into a bigger pot soon, because theres a few little roots showing from the bottom of the pot. should i transplant soon? my plants only got like 5 leaves but there not all fully grown yet, and if so, how do i transplant properly?
i dont wanna kill my baby! XD lol
comments? pleasE?

| | If you see roots-transplant time has arrived. A couple ways to do this-you could go to the FAQ and read about those methods or follow the method I chose. I simply got a larger pot, filled it with soil, & sat the smaller pot in it. I don't believe in disturbing the roots from their enviroment - it's unnatural & slows growth. Make sure whatever you decide to do your new soil should be pretty equal in nutrients like 10-10-10 so that when you do feed it will be more even. |

| | ive got agway pot n peat potting mix, not sure of the nutrient levels, just says that it has slow release nutrients, doesnt actually say what the NPK is.
ive now got two 24 watt cfls, one 20 watt cfl, one 18 watt cfl, all cool daylight, then i have one warm dayllight, 23 watt.
i see roots but i only see a few little white spikey roots, transplant tonight you think?
ill look up transplanting info in the FAQ's. thanks for your help, ill post pics later tonight so check posts later.

| | comments please??? | | ok, so now ive taken out my shitty reflective stuff, and put a few sheets of paper just until i get some paint. my friend gave two light fixtures so i now have 4 lights, 5th one going in tonight or tomorrow, and ive just finished transplanting my plant, i have a feeling i did it too early. any suggestions?
i have total of about 70 watts, in my gro-box. all 6500k, except for one warm white 2700k. i only have two running atm because im letting the plant recover from possible transplant shock, better to use less lights for this stage yeah?
i have pics, please let me know if it looks ok, and what to do next?
thanks alot guys.
much appreciated.

| | How old is that plant & is that the only one you have growing? Soils that release nutrients slowly over time must be carefully monitored because if the soil realeases something & you feed it alot of the same you could get nut. burn-use it but watch closely. Your lighting looks good, but turn them all on - remember when the plant is young it needs all the light it can get - the heat is what hurts it most. It needs even more light when it's flowering - probably about twice as much. Your color spectrum is good. Your transplant should be fine just try not to stress it too much right now. Make sure to let that soil dry to the touch! Plant looks O.K. |

| | yeah its the only one, i'd day its about 35 days old or so, dont know y it was going so slowly. ur 46 day old one is going great! maybe because for the first ...maybe two weeks, i was using an incandescent bulb LOL. that was before i knew anything about growing. now i can call my self a novice. lol.
yeah, my medium is made up of 4 parts Agway Pot N Peat Potting Mix, and 1 part Perlite. and the potting mix says on the bag, the its guaranteed to grow plants, and it is enriched with Nitrosol plant food, and has Wettasoil in it, for water retention.
i shouldn't need to start feeding for a while ey?
at the moment, im watering once every two days, but now ill have to see how often it needs water now that it has that potting mix, and the perlite, see i was just using seed starting mix before.
yeah ill turn all my lights on, im gonna add another cfl, 20 watt blue spec. just need to put in some elbow grease and mount the friggen thing, lol.
thanks for your help man, ill need more though. lol
cya mate.
