nasty, definitely get a house, you can do whatever you want and not have to worry about a landlord or anything. and as far as a room, in a house you have ample space. i use my bathroom closet... had to punch a couple holes in the wall and ceiling, but hell, its my house right. i keep a 250mh/hps in this 2x4 closet but wish i had gotten the 400hps...gives me plenty of personal with some for friends

nasty- from what ive read and learned cfls keep u from buiying additonal equip. to cool the grow area, are cheaper to maintain, and more stealthy. from what ive seen they also give off good yields. since its for personal use i would go w/ cfls for now, then go all out when u get the house

I agree with six8. go for the cfl's right now, and go bigger when you have the room. I am using cfl's and don't seem to be having any problems with any of the light issues associated with cfl's. I havent seen any plants grow faster or bloom faster than what I can do. I take that back, there are some super growers on here that I'm sure could do better with a flashlight than i could achieve with a 1000w hps. Go cfl bro!!!

CFL's are definately the way to go for the stealth grower. I originally bought a 400w HPS with an open face (non coolable) and it sure did put out a lot of light but also put out WAY too much heat for a cabinet. I changed over to CFL's, got the biggest wattage I could find, and placed four in my cabinet which holds 2 plants and have produced some very beautiful buds. personnally i would goo cfl right now and you could do that with one plant in just a small drawer but you do need alot of lights to square inch so more plants is more lights but since its only one person i would say do like maybe 3 plants if you want to with flouros

but

if you have the space, ventilation, and the moolah go hid just better all around buds but also don't say no to flourescence cause they are awesome to some times.

CFL's seem to be working good. Im personal medical user. Mmm.

Look at how they are coming along, I only have 6 cool white CFL's on them. All I can afford right now. They get same light and one looks a bit droopy, and same amount of water, hmm. I dono... Take a look. 26 days from seed.

Cfl's suck, only good for seedlings, clones, and veging. Too much time is spent moving things around to get ample light penetration.
Go with a switchable 150 or better yet 250. That way its just plug and play, no wiring, no moving, just simply water and grow.

if you want good bud your going to need to get an hps, if you want a low yeild, more leafy, less potent buds you could go with cfl, i veg wth cfls then flower with hps, for some reason the quantity and quality is increased dramatically with an hps. but if you have time then get a cfl grow started for now, then hit up a grow store and get a 400w hps for some personal pounds when you look for a new house. good luck
