Default CFL power consumption
Hi all, I currently live in a condo style complex where the electricity is paid for. I am currently using 8 x 42 watt CFL's and a computer fan, do you guys know the power consumption for this many bulbs? I currently have the lights on 12/12, so do you think I am using enough electricity to incur suspicion? Or even if these old school condos calculate usage from all rooms together or individualy?

Im just really sketched out. Any help would be appreciated.

i think it's by kilowatt per hour...idk about your computer fan but your ilghts alone are 336 watts, so if i remember from high school that's 3.3kilowatts and your running 12 hours a day...so take that times the days in a biling cycle.

8cfls @ 42w = 336w of electricity used. Given 12 hours a day, you're looking at 0.3kW/hr... About the same as a moderately powered computer, or one fifth of a plug-in heater.

Unless you're using in the thousands of watts, don't worry about it.

A kilowatt = 1000 watts, not 100.

So multiply 42W x 8 x 24 hours and divide by 1000. That's about 8 kWh per day max, 4 kWh on 12/12. Figure on about 10 cents per kWh. So that's 40-80 cents per day, or about a $12-24 increase per month.

Pretty negligible. Be efficient with your heat/AC and no one will notice at all.
