Light Fixtures

I'm just starting my grow which is my first and i plan on using CFLs. What are some of the ways that i can set these lights up for my plants? What kind of fixtures have yall have set up yourself? Thanks

I bought 2 fixtures from home depot that take 3 bulbs each ($8 a piece). I then got 6 y shaped bulb splitters($2.50 a piece but you can get cheaper). Then I got 2 extension cords that have the wire leads exposed so they can be wired to househhold items like...light fixtures. umm..from there I think its just a matter of how you set up your grow area. You should build a reflector for the fixtures , think of a way your goin to raise the lights or drop the plants as they grow. I would explain how I did that but a pic would make it much easier..check out humboldts grow journal also. Oh and dont buy cfl's from home depot!! Go to walmart..you get a pack of 4 for the same price you get 2 for at home depot. Man I was pissed when I saw that lol. Oh and try to get a mix of lights that give off light in the blue as well as the red sprectrum if you can..walmart though lol

Go to Home Depot. Buy the 42 Watt CFL bulbs. Daylight for vegging plants, 2700 K for flowering. But I just use the 2700 K (red spectrum) all the way through. Next, buy the metal domed reflectors they have. They are around 10 bucks a piece. Then go to where the chains are and pick the one you want. Call the employee and they will chop the lengths you want. I got 5 3 foot chains for around 50 cents a piece. They will have those little packs of S shaped hangers near the chains. They come in packs of 4 or 6, but make sure they can fit through the holes in the chains. There are also those little hand work lights which you can hang with smaller wattage cfl (20W) as side lighting. Good luck!!!

I like desk lamps for side lighting. You can get cheapies for $10 or so. Gooseneck lamps are the best because they give you some flexibility on positioning around the plant.
