is ventalaition neccesary? i got an area of 16 inches by 16 inches. and its 2 and a half feet tall. im gunna have no more than a hundred watts of cfl's

yea, you're probably going to need some sort of computer fan. Ventilation is important not just because of the heat factor, but plants need fresh air. Think about what you're doing. You're growing a plant in a box. What makes things grow; light, fresh air , and water. Provide adequate amounts of those 3 basic things, and with those things alone you can grow.
