Question Color Temperature: Purple Light

Recently I found some CFL "plant lamps" in the basement (don't know who left them there, different story)
The color temperature is conveniently described as purple light. Is that 5000k, suitable for veg? They do give off a very strange light.

Well it says zero uvb and uvb is a good thing when it comes to bag appeal.
Never tried it, they are free, start a grow.

One thing I noticed on the link you posted is that the bulb only puts out 400 lumens. Thats very little considering a normal cfl puts out over 1000 lumens(hope you have a bunch of them). Also I noticed that the input voltage on that bulb is 220v - 240v. I dont know where you live but here in us thats higher than normal voltage for a cfl bulb. sweet bulb non the less I have never seen one like that before.

5000k is very bluish white, similair to MH in color but nowhere near as intense, obviously. i use 5100k's for both veg and flower with a few 3100k... but then again i special order my lamps and get them for cheap cuz i got friends in low places

the purple color your asking about is similar to the GE plant/aquarium ecolux T12 florescent lamps.

The voltage is normal for the European grid. Started germinating seeds today and will use these lamps for veg. If anything special happens I'll post pics
