I've been using MG soil and don't want to keep my baby in that crap anymore. When I transplant, will it matter if some of the soil comes with to the new soil, or do I have to shake it off real good?

You would do more harm getting off the old soil.
Plant in fresh soil.

If I had to guess it isn't the MG making your plants look bad (i'm assuming she looks bad since you are talking down on MG). I have seen so many successful grows done in miracle gro. 95% of the time someone is talking down on it is because their plants look bad and they don't want to blame themselves
