Default How many CFL's for veg?
If I am growing 5 plants w/ CFL's, I will be using around 500 actual watts during flowering, so how many actual watts will I need for Veg?

I have read quite a bit around here and the only general answer I can find ifs around 1/2 of the light is needed for Veg? If this is true, I would only need around 250 actual watts for 5 plants during Veg, correct?

this could be a good wattage, but really depends on how big or what training is used
a 1 foot LSTed plant can make do with less wattage than a 5 foot 'natural' plant

it will be 4-5ft, "natural grown", no advanced techs, besides maybe topping once..more or so SOG style growing with shorter indica strains.

with 100 watts per plant for flower, 3 foot would be much better, when you shrink the volume of space, it lets you cover the plant more tightly

Thanks roseman!

Thats a great write up, but I still didnt see anything specifing the amount of wattage for flowering vs veg, regarless of the sq ft of the space...unless I overlooked that part.

I have 2 useable closets each in seperate rooms, and the are both 4ft deep x 6ft wide x 7ft tall. My original plan was to use one closet for veg and one closet for flowering, but it seems it might be too much room for veg. So, I was thinking about getting a small grow tent for the veg room, and use one of the closets for flowering.
XS grow tent:

So using this setup, for 5 plants, would ~500watts for flowering, and ~250w for Veg suiffice?

Tinfoil or Mylor the walls in the veg closet. buy a piece of ply wood and some 1" square dowelling and cut them to how high you want! Build the ceiling and supports what a 4 legged table would look like and you are set!

the plants always need more in flowering. i would say your fine. ofcourse, the more light the better, but i like you setup. just get a 400w HPS setup to add to your current setup for flowering and if the heat doesnt hurt, you will be very satisfied

I was planning just to use 400 actual watts of CFL bulb during flowering, b/c of excessive heat issues.
