Default quick help with wiring

Hey hey. So I am trying to wire up my lights and bought a 9 ft grounded extension cord (the replacement kind) and need to get it wired up but the fixture doesn't have a ground wire. Is using the grounded cord pointless or am I missing something??

thats ok. if there isnt a ground wire on the fixture you will be fine. look to see if there is any bare metal on the housing that you could wrap the ground cable too.

just make sure you test it out, and stay home for a while. check the cord for to much heat, if the cord is warm/hot something might be wrong or its overloaded

normally if the fixture does not have a ground wire then there is no need to ground it, but it is always a good idea to do it yourself. just screw a metal screw into the fixture and wrap ground wire around it, just like Johnboh said.
