When I first signed up at RIU I promised myself I wouldn't post the inevitable newbie question, "Is this enough light?".

I managed to contain myself for over a week, but I can't take it anymore!

My space is approximately 2ft deep and 4ft wide. I've got a 52W T5 4ft strip plus 3 26W spiral CFLs. There are 4 and a half seedlings in there now - if i'm lucky I'll get 3 females.


Do I need more light?

you've got about 125w for 8 sq. feet - you will need more light though you may get by for a while
eventually for 8 sq. feet you will likely need about 400w

thanks for the replies. I'm thinking of getting 3 100W bulbs to put in the fixtures that the 26W bulbs are currently in and using the 26's for side lighting once the plants get bigger. That'll give me over 400W.
