Hey everyone, just posted one yesterday. Wanted to ask about my lighting placement today. I'm 32 days in doing a "Buds For Less" cfl grow using an alternate fixture setup. I have two 42w 2700k cfls on top and four 42w 6500k cfls on the sides.

Any thoughts on my lighting placement? should they be higher? lower? split differently? Any comments appreciated.


(btw.. lights were just turned on just before the photos were taken. This explains some droopyness.)

looking good as for the setup, but I think you could get the lights closer to her without burning. Also you might consider getting more light on the lower leaves - especially since it looks like you're in the 12/12 stage. just my $.02

they look good but one thing that i notice is the drooping leaves (a good sign that you are over watering your plants) how often do you water?

Agreed. Not that I have a LOT of grows under my belt but Id say it looks like overwatering. I like to use the "Golden rule" of the 1" finger probe into the soil, If its wet - Leave it alone and check back tomorrow, otherwise I water. Just my .02

I snapped these within 5 minutes of my lights turning on (see note from original post). I'm watering about every 8 days. I've also read that the finger test should be 4in.. lol.. who knows. 8 days seems to be working okay thus far.

Fender -

I agree I probably could get them closer. I split the top fixture, and now it's difficult to get any lamp close to the main cola, however the lamps are <3" away. I have two lamps on the sides- one of which you can see in the photo, the other is in pic 1 where I snapped the photo from behind the reflective hood.

I'm wondering if I should just let the main cola go for a while and rise between them a little, and then raise. I will say I'm about 2 days ahead of schedule from the "Buds for Less" book.

yo man-after every 8 days-thats in m book is outrageous-water them every 2-4 days(il water mine every 3days)-so you got your droopy leaves because of underwatering-let them have some water bro.lights look good-little bit closer aint going to hurt it.
