Default DAY 8 (Pics!)
Ok, so the girls have moved into their new veg home! Let me know what you think. I gave a little watering with 1/4 strength Alaska Fish Emulsion since it was brought to my attention that the soil I am using is pretty much nute free. Any ideas as to what could be going on with yellowing going on on a couple of the plants?

Thanks for checkin' my grow out!

(Win, loose or draw, just smoke until ya' fall!)

Default Day 9
Looks like the little bit of nutes I gave them yesterday gave the girls a boost. Still have that strange yellowing on the first set of leaves. Temps are much better controlled in their new home as well. Do you think the 8 14W 854 lumen 6500k cfl's will be enough or should I throw in 26W cfl's?

Hey fellow socal grower, looks good so far. I'm hoping to start a CFL closet grow soon, so I'll follow your progress. Not sure what the yellowing is about - is it possible the nutes were given too early? I think most CFL growers will tell you that you can get results with the lights you're using, but more is almost always better. I'm assuming you're going to add more as they grow. So far, I've purchased (3) 68watt CFL's and I only plan on growing 2 plants max. I will probably have to get more to ensure a good crop from 2 plants. Cheers.

stick to 23w and over. you cant add up lumems. so you want to stick to higher lumem bulbs. but what you got on them is good for now. watch out for strech.

Thanks for the info BiggieNix. I just took out 2 of the 14W bulbs and replaced them with 2x 26W 5000K bulbs.

So now I'm rockin' 2x 26W 6500K, 2x 26W 5000K, and 4x 14W 6500K CFL's. Main reason I got the 14W bulbs is because HD was running a special with our power company. 4 pack of 14W 6500K 854 lumen bulbs for $2! Sue me, I'm a cheap bastard!!! hehe

Hey PabloE, thanks for checkin' out my grow! Only reason I gave a very diluted shot of nutes was because someone gave me the low down on the starter soil I'm using. It doesn't have any nutes to it at all. He suggested that I give a small shot to see if it would help out the girls. All that yellowing occurred before I gave the nute shot.

I'll be lookin' for your grow log. Good to hear from a fellow Socal! As a matter of fact it is a glorious socal day and I put the girls out in the backyard around 8am to get some of the really good lighting! We'll see how that works.

Default Day 11
Ok, so it looks like they are starting to perk up a bit. Last night I added moist soil up to about a 1/2" from the leaves. And I guess it doesn't pay to be cheap! I replaced 2 of the 14W bulbs with 26W bulbs and boy did the girlie's like it! Back to WallyWorld!

But before I hit the store, I woke up this morning to the sun blaring in my eyes. I figure this might be a nice day to let the girls work on their tan in the socal sun! So they get to spend much of the day basking in mother natures ultimate grow light! I took some pics this morning, and I'll take some pics after I bring them in to see if there is any major difference.

Ah! Thanks for the tip DH. I'll keep an eye out. Guess I'll need to go find some threads on organic pest control as well. Just in case! I was planning on letting the girls out in the sun on the weekends, but maybe I need to re-think that.

Look into predator nematodes.
The nematodes kill many types of insect larvae. I water these into plant containers. For flying insects, depending on type use sticky traps. Good Luck
