i would like to see some of the plants you have under one of these. the only think im looking at is that it only has 10,900 lumens and a single cfl that runs cool has 1700 or better so you could get the same amount of light with say 6 or 7 small cfls and could place them more strategicaly

like 50 or 60 dollars... it comes with a bulb too can't remember for sure on price cuz i bought other shit too but i know it was under 70$ i'm running it without the lens on it, i figured it would cut some of my light it has a day/night sensor on it, i just put some black tape over it i looked at their site and couldn't find it listed so thats why i posted "lights of america" they have other "lights of america" lights listed on their site if your store doesn't have it ,maybe if you took in the url of the page i linked in my first post they would order it for you |

it takes a mogul base you know a socket like a high pressure sodium you could do as you say but you would have to take the ballast out of the light base and the socket too |

main problem is no camera second problem is i only have strawberry, tomato, a couple cuttings i took off a bush in the yard, and my kids sunflower sprout she got from school oh yea... it's set up in my kitchen right now too i built a cloner but i think i am going to lose negotiations with the wife on having an inside grow you said this: you could get the same amount of light with say 6 or 7 small cfls yea probably but you could also get, oh maybe 3 of these and have a TON of light penetration this fuckin think is bright, there is no wall to speak of between my kitchen and living room. i have the light hanging about 4 feet from the floor up against the kitchen wall and it puts out enough light to light both rooms VERY well you can't look directly into this light i don't think i would get that from 6 or 7 small cfls |

The ballasts for cfl's are inside the bulb. On the light strips there are three wires, splice a 3 pronged extension cord and match the colors up. It's not pulling much power...

that was my mistake when i first bought it i saw the light and thought OMG a 100 watt cfl i snatched it up, got it home, then opened it i thought WTF it's a mogul so i had to go back, return the bulb and buy the whole thing it would be very easy to hook these up ala' custom though the ballast is self contained in a cylinder 4.5 inches across and only 2 inches tall as it is packaged the ballast is separate from the hood you are supposed to: wire the ballast to power from your home fasten the ballast to your wall then the hood simply snaps onto the ballast very simple setup i'm a big DIY'er and this thing would be easy for anyone to take apart and customize for their individual needs |
