New box, New grow

Well, it's time once again. Grown before over the years but always had to tear it down or stop after a single harvest for one reason or another. Going for it again cause I refuse to give up.

New box is an old book shelf converted/modded to my needs. My growspace is basically 19 1/2 inches wide by 15 1/2 inches deep by 18 inches high. A perfect space for some LST under CFLs if I do say so myself.

I've mounted two power strips to the side walls and used plug-in sockets to put 7 bulbs in there. And I dig growing under mixed spectrum so my lighting is as follows:

2x 42w warm white bulbs
3x 26w warm white bulbs
2x 26w daylight bulbs

I've got two 80mm computer fans wired up for the exhaust. I'm planning on using passive intakes, but they aren't carved yet because I haven't decided on a final solution. Right now passive intake is provided by all the unsealed gaps around the box...ie. the door, shelf and fanholes are not yet light/air tight. But those two little fans are cranking enough negative pressure to keep all those bulbs cool and the box interior is holding steady at a balmy 78 degrees Farenheit...and I think I can bring those temps down a couple more degrees once I get the box sealed up and get better airflow going. Also, if temps really become an issue, I think I can pull two of those 23w warm whites and not lose too many lumens.

My soil is MG Organic Choice. Not the Rolls Royce of soils to be sure, but I find it quite usable, cheap and readily available at non-speciallty shops, ie. Wal-Mart. For ferts (when the time comes) I have Shultz All-purpose Plant Food (10-15-10 I think), Superthrive, and Alaskan Fish Emultion (lots of N in this). Basically my plan is to use plain distilled water (pH about as close to 7.0 as you can get) until I get into the last 3-5 weeks of flowering, then hit it hard with the nutes (because the MG soil has nutes in it)

For training, I'm doing a combination of Supercropping (bruising the inner hurd) and LST (tying the plant down to the pot with bread ties) to keep the canopy even under the lights. I'm thinking of trying to mount a screen in there and switching to a ScrOG method instead but that's for a later date if I do it at all.

The lower part of the box is going to become the veg/clone chamber, and I think I may leave the bottom foot or so empty to use as storage space for my ferts and so on.

My girls (all confirmed) have been in soil for about a month and a half now. Started with some bagseed germed with the paper towel method. Once they cracked open, I planted them into some rehydrated jiffy plugs and put them under the dome. Then transplanted into their final 6 inch pots once they had first real leaves. 6 pots fit nicely into the flower chamber...though I must admit, I'd like to find square pots or go smaller to cram more plants in there. I'm looking to Dr. Bud's method from ICMag (a micro style SOG under CFLs grown in trimmed down 20 oz soda bottles), but I'm really in love with LST training. I don't know what I'm going to do here...experimentation to come later once I got this box tuned up and my grow dialed in.

To Do List:

1. Another coat of white paint.

2. Figure out intake solution.

3. Get white caulk and vasaline and seal up box.

4. Figure out odor control for the rectangular hole that my fans sit in.

5. Build veg/clone half of box.

6. Master cloning.

7. ???????

8. Profit

Before anyone starts dumping advise and suggestions on my head, remember that I know the leetsauce hasn't yet been poured on my grow and I know my box still needs a lot of work. Still, I think I'm off to a pretty good start!

Rolling right along. This is the easiest hard part in the world...just gotta water, watch for signs they need nutes...and wait. If my stoner short term memory is correct (I totally should have writen it down), I started them flowering on about the 4th of May, so we're a little ways into it.

A quicky pic update today. They're looking great and hopefully this crappy camera will let you see the buds that are popping nicely. They got 4 droppers full of Shultz and 4 drops of Superthrive in a gallon of water this morning.

Another day, another update. The girls seem to have stopped growing up and are now growing fat. They look so tasty, I can hardly wait til I can snip the first tester nug.

ive got 2 going atm in a similar size box and have been training them around the edge of the pots in a circle.

Same kind of training I'm doing...I've heard it called the Spiral of Green. Hopefully this time I can keep it rolling, and once I get into taking clones, I'll train them further around the pot, ie. veg them longer.

good grow bro.
my plants are about 2 weeks old and they are looking good.. i still havent picked up any nutes... wat kind of nutrients do u recomend for my grow??? nutrients that i can get at wal mart or a garden center?
oh and on ur first pics i noticed the sims 2 boxes hahah
good game when ur high lol

The nutes you see in the last pic of the first post were all bought at my local Wal-Mart supercenter in the garden department.

Well, my craptastic camera needs new batteries...and I can't find the package I just bought, so the pic update isn't very big today. Oh well, the camera doesn't take very good pics anyway...I really wish my photos could do justice to just how beautiful my girls are getting. The trichs are starting to pop real good and the colas are plumping up. And they smell just deliscious.
