I plan on growing 2 mother plants indoors with the cfl's. i was wondering what would be better the 105w spiral bulbs or these 250w tube bulbs.

I bought a 300 watter the other day, and it was a piece of shit! I think the smaller lights are better......I honestly read that somewhere. The 300 I got lasted less than 5 minutes and it wassnt bright at alll as compared to a 42 watt.

I've seen those bulbs work just fine! They are more $ but. I use, and this is me. two 100 watt daylight, for my small space. You should just keep looking on here and see what is working and what is not. You will get a good understanding of what to use for your grow area. remember...Light...Air...Food is all you need.

I've noticed the higher watt CFLs tend to have a lower lumen/watt ratio. Smaller CFL's are around 70 lumens/watt, and I've seen some of the bigger ones at around 50 lumens/watt.

Although, I've heard the higher watt CFL's put out less heat for the same light then the smaller ones.

how many watt's per plant should i have?

100watts for the first plant and +50w for every plant after

iv jus brought 2 of the big tubular's a 250w 8u cfl 6400k daylight for veg and a 250w 8u 2700k red/warm for flowering came with a big reflective metal hood and ajustable hangers, guna bosh that over the top of the plants main light source, then i will add additional small cfl's say 2 on each side for side lighting, plan on growing 2 plants to start with 2 fems mayb a lowryder coz i aint got much room mayb a closet grow. but hey ill let u know how i get on, ill start a journal once i have everything ready. goodluck with ur grow man!!

so would like 250-300w of 6500k be good enough for 4 plants? and what would happen if you have to many watts for the amount of plants like if 2 of 4 were males and got chucked out and i had the 300 watts on only 2 plants

more light the better man!! especially as CFL'S dont put out that much heat. thus not burning the plants u can put them like 4 inches away from them xD add additional cfl's to the side/bottom of plants once they start growing well to make them bush out more and u will want to switch ur main 6400k bulb with a 2700k for flowering

I have to concur I was using a mix of bulbs at first trying to find what worked, and without fail the plant always started growing and leaning towards the side the smaller bulbs were on.
I don't know the official word on the subject but the plant certainly preferred the smaller bulbs.
