Hey guys, just a quick question. I want to start my own grow, but i think i already fucked up. I bought the only 23w cfl's they had at walmart, but could not find the kelvin rating on it. its a 3 pack of GE 23w cfl's with 1600 lumen. all it says is 23w 100w equiv.
If anyone knows let me know. THanks Sorry i dont have a pic. |

AFAIK GE only makes 2700 K bulbs maybe 6500 K too still (I haven't seen any) If you have an ordinary light bulb it would be 2700 K so if they look the same color to you side by side that's your answer.

they'll work OK, hang on to them for flowering unless your hard up for money. Philips makes a 6500 K bulb (in the blue package) pretty sure Home Depot has them.

x 2 I know how you feel man, I did the same thing. Was in too much of a hurry one time, and didn't take the time to MAKE SURE of the color temp. Of course, I ended up getting the wrong ones, lol. Yes, if you have the 2700 k (soft white) which has a red glow, you can use them for veg. Personally, I wouldn't use them for long; for BEST RESULTS you should use 6500k bulbs.

2700k works fine for veg also. I just recently started using 6500k for veg, having always used the 2700k up till then. Personally, I can't tell the difference in growth so far.

No problem. When I first bought cfl's about 6 years ago 2700k is all you could get. I bought some at Sam's to replace my basement lights and was using 4' tubes in the growroom. When one of my ballasts went bad I used some old floodlight fixtures and the cfl's to get by. I only use the tubes for sidelighting now and cfl mainly. I may have been one of the first to use them for growin herb.
