So, this is going to be my first CFL grow, and my first grow in general. I have a few questions related to what I have to do, I already know some things about growing, but I am wondering what to buy? This will be a closet grow, and I am in the States. I am close to Wal Mart and Home Depot, and those are my two choice stores to buy the materials at. What kind of budget am I looking at to pull off a CFL grow with 3-5 female plants, looking at getting at least 4 ounces of cured herb? And what would the best setup for a 4x4 closet be?

there are several different ways to go, for your set up id probably rig a light with 5 light sockets. one on each corner and one in center. use y splitters, and put about 3 lights over each plant. maybe use a 3.5x3.5ft base for it, and you have some area on the sides for heat to flow up.

been on vacation. glad you got more info. and yeah that was my plant. not sure of the exact strain but it was heavy indica, and it was super great smoke. from 125/oz bagseed. i think it may have been purp, but i got it from a redneck who got it from black fella, and they call stuff by different names.

A few things:
1. unless you know your seeds are feminized (don't know if that's even really possible), it's about a 50/50 ratio between the chance of males and females. So for however many females you want, you need to pop twice that amount of seeds. Until you find out the sex of the plants
2. Home depot/lowes : Clamp light reflectors are about 8 - 12 dollars a piece, i'd buy 4 or 5. And then get a Y splitter for each light fixture, you'll probably find them in the lighting area sitting in some boxes, with other small lighting things in boxes around it. They're about 2.50 or 3 bucks.. On each Y splitter i would put 1 23watt 27K light and 1 23watt 65K (daylight) light.
