Do you know the formula or how to figure this out? I too have a 6 sq ft floor space box, with a total of 15 cubic feet of overall space. I am under the impression that a 3cfm = one room change per 5 minutes to replace depleted CO2 using flourescents or 15cfm = one room change per minute for general 24 hour ventilation...

I did see a 42w cfl in a earlier post having a price of about $5. A very good price, though may want to check what other's experiences with that brand are.
Normally, the most cost effective lumens per dollar cfl's are the 23-26w. You can get 6 of those babies at walmart for $13.
And really think over the use of as much reflector as possible. You can easily lose half of a cfl's lumens with no reflectors. And home made reflector can be very cheap indeed.
