Default starting a cfl grow. lamp help

I want to add a few cfls to my grow room for support. can i use any basic lamp or do i need to get something special? help.. thanks.

No converter, most cfl's are self ballast

Unless you get into a very high wattage cfls

im just going to get a couple from my local hardware store. nothing too much something around 20+ wattage just for some added support. should i make sure they have a ballast or would they for sure you think?

cfls MUST have a ballast, otherwise whats gonna start it and keep it running? some may not have built in ballasts but all must have them to run

go for the 42 watt bulbs since their only a few dollars more than lower wattage bulbs so u might as well get them now instead of buying more small bulbs when u need more light.

cfls are a totally different language to me so thank you for the help. will the 42 watt say on the package that it has a ballast or no? how will i know?

it will have a ballast built in until u get to higher wattages i gaurentee it will have a built in ballast, its only the monster wattage cfls that have remote ballasts that ive seen
