I'm reading a book now; The Cannabis Grow Bible and in several chapters the author emphatically asserts that forcing flowering on a plant prior to its displaying pre-flowering traits causes a crisis condition in the plant which will likely cause the hermaphroditic condition. It is strongly recommended not to do this.

Makes sense to me except that I have read from other sources that CFLs are poor at penetration and that plants should not be allowed to grow larger than 14in during vegatation because the CFLs cannot accurately reconcile the needs of the plant for light and the amount of lumen penetration the CFL can generate.

If one isn't working with clones (seeds) how often are you getting herms or seeing sexual dysfunction in your grows with CFLs and are you all forcing the plant to flower prior to pre-flowering?

Anyone out there?

i just harvested 2 bagseed plants that i forced to flower a week into veg. one was in flower under CFL's turned out just dandy threw the other in flower under an HPS showed 2 or 3 balls i picked them off and havent had a problem since

The rule on CFL's ONLY applies to lighting being given STRICTLY from the top! As soon as ya start addin side lighting and light from the bottom ya flip the script!

ive grown my mother on CFL's only one 42 watter up top and what ever side light it gets from the 400 watts of CFL off to the side of it and shes pushen 3 feet tall. my clones in flower that arent LST are about 2 and a half feet tall and i flowerd them at 4 inches high

Yup, I flowered at 4 inches too and I had no issues what so ever. I think the hermaphroditic condition being caused by force flowering is speculation, after all these guys have to have something to write about it their books.
