Alright my first post. So i have a question about CFL lights. So far i am under the impression that HPS lights are better but since i dont have a fixture and dont want to buy one my next best light would be CFL. I have one 40 watt 6500K right up on the plant (like 2 inches) and a 60 watt on the opposite side of the other light and slightly higher and further at about 7 or 8 inchers away. im currently in the first week of germination and whatnot so far so good.

now the real? lol.

can i get the same QUALITY not quantity out of my plant as an HPS light?

that all depends on who you ask man different people say different things.im fairly new to growing but from what ive seen you get denser buds with HPS but heat can be an issue with HPS.personally im growing with envirolites which are just big cfls and flouros and ive had some decent results.

yes you can get the same quality i grow using cfl's and trust me after a certain point lumens mostly affect the yeild not the THC content. but i still get about an ounce of each plant with household cfl's like yours. but i also have bigger cfl's i ordered online that are 105 w which put out as much light as a 500w incandescent and wit all four of them they equal as many lumens as a 250w hps and i dont use an expensive reflector or ballast at all. so yea your good.

You can grow decent weed.. just not as much or as good... but good none the less...

Yeah i believe u could acheive the same potency but not the compactness or yeild u would get from an hps or mh. For me quantity is not an issue so im using cfls.

haha i would use a different light if i could CFL is just too easy. im going to throw in a UVB light soon a small one im only creating one plant for now and thats it. just like one hour a day for now and increase not more than 6 or so. i think this would be an easy way to get better smoke if my knowledge is correct. pics soon maybe a late journal.

I agree to disagree. Yes, not as much yield, but on the potency. . . I do have a different opinion. It all depends on the placement and how much time you actually give to yer girls!
