So to keep it short and sweet I have come around to using CFL's. I normally use a 250w HPS for everything since I only grow autos anymore. I got tired of lifting my plants at different stages of growth (I have a fixed light height) so I came around to adding some supplemental CFL's to the box. My cab dimentions are small (3ftHx2ftWx1.5ftD) and completely lined in mylar so the added light is really kicking ass. I added 3x42w 2700k CFL's and 2x23w 2700k CFL's. The three big boys are on a lifter so they can focus right over the babies and still reflect the sides of the bigger girls. The remaining two 23watters are on the opposite side to add side lighting. So with good rotation my girls are basking in some serious lumens per square foot. Kicking my ass that I have not sone this sooner it seems like everyone with a 400w or less HID system could benefit from supplemental CFL lighting.

So basically I just am posting to thank al you CFL masters out there that really prove what amazing potential these lights have, both as main and supplemental lighting.

I agree Cfl's are lots better than they used to be. Supplemental lighting can increase yields.
