its better to go with something softer and warmer like 2700k but im sure that would work.

from what i've read, many describe this as "running your car in neutral." I also read that 2700k is the color of the fall sun. HPS light emit 2200k if that helps...

Its not that its not enough lumens , its that the "color temp" isnt "warm" enough. The lower the "K" ( Kelvin Rating ) then the "warmer" the "color temp" and the higher the "K" , the better it is for "vegging".. At least im pretty sure thats right.
