Hi all well finally had one afternoon of work and decided id start a journal of my own grow. The strain is double gum from white label seeds from PS. I recieved them withing in 1 week of payment clearing which was pretty good though one seed was crushed. Decided to start a couple one sprouted a tip within in 12 hours the other was bit deformed and never cracked so i started a third 2 days later. There about 5 or 6 days old today. The late starter is not far behind though. I plan on vegging them for as long as i can on 18/6 then move them outside to flower them. Here is a photo they are called Sugar and bubbles. Sugar is a day or two older


Cabinet.

The cabinet im using i made by hand in school a few years ago. It was supposed to be a bedside cabinet but ended up being to large with no real purpose sitting in the shed so i decided to mod it a little. The dimensions are 16" deep (40cm) by 20" wide by 20" high (50cm) with about a max of 17" from the bottom to the light. I Painted interior flat celeing white. As far as light proof goes its pretty good but would probably notice it if you walked into the room when its pitch black. How ever i do plan to better seal it of with fridge seal. I eventually plan to use this for a clone/veg chamber.




Ventilation.

I wired up two 90 mm Led computer fans (1 intake, 1 exhaust) that i had laying around to a phone charger. They dont spin at max capacity but thats ok because they do the job and are almost silent when im trying to sleep. I plan on getting a temperature gage soon to make sure it doesnt get to hot in there when summer hits. I eventually plan on making a Carbon filter and hooking it up to my exhaust fan if i need to. The outlets you see below i made my self with some PVC fittings and some old sock double lined to lessen the amount of light that escapes but still without restricting airflow.



Soil.

Is a blend of 1 Part seedling soil mix (no added nutes or slow release which has stung me before) 1 part Perlite, 1 Part Vermiculite, And 1 part peat moss. Mixed then frozen to kill any parasites.

Lighting

I have just one 6400k 130watt CFL growlite hooked up to a mogul fitting and a reflector. The fans and light are hooked up to a cheap timer which does the trick.



Water

Currently using bottled water with a ph of about 6.5 Tap water is about 8.0. May try using a drop or two of lemon juice to bring it down later on but for now im happy to use bottled water.

Nutes

Havent decide what nutes im going to use yet any advice will be welcome however i dont live in the U.S so many of your products (foxfarm etc) are not available to me.

Other

Here is a photo of some bagseed that i name Leela. I started her about 8 weeks ago she suffered a bit from nute burn. From slow releaze that stunded her she was probably under CFL for about 3 weeks on 18/6 before she got burned then i transplanted her outside where she ras maruaded by snails. She is doing well now though i think probably more of a Sativa dominant because of her slender leaves. Dont know what sex she is but she does have what appears to be like purple hairs at each internode dont know if this is just new growth. She had a pretty traumatic upbringing so i would be supprised if she was female. I did however learn alot from her.



Love that leave very crisp looking. I will be updating every two days so please stop by and check on how its all going.

Nice grow cabinet,very scientific! I have almost the same light as you in my closet. Determining the sex can be difficult, however Leela looks a lot like my Jane when she began to show. Actually Jane had a rough start too and she happened to be a female so... Time will tell you though, I look for balls. As for nutes I use the natural organic stuff like Algamin Kelp Meal(1-0-2) or Indonesian bat guano(0.5-12-0.2) for my girls(while in veg mode) and they love it! She looks great though and good luck with your grow!! Nice pointy leaves also!! Im definitely interested in the duble gum as it is hard to get here in the US(and I don't trust the mail)!! Do you plan to keep Leela outside?

Hey cheers man, ill have to look that stuff up dont know about the bat guanno though i have never seen it down here in Aus. How to you feed your nutes in veg (how often, how much). I was thinking of waiting at least 3 weeks before i start giving them any sort of nutes. Yeah im looking forward to when they start smelling. Ill prolly leave leela outside seeing as how she's in the ground and where heading into summer down here. Expecting like a good 70 days or more without rain.

Day - 7

Ok so there hasnt been much growth since 2 days ago so today i bought a thermometer just a cheap 5 dollar aquarium one and it turns out the temps were running at about 30 celcius or 100 farenheit. I decide to remove the reflector because it always got so hot and was sort of blocking the exhaust fan. preliminary checks show that its dropped to around 75 - 80 farenheit.

Im hoping this hasnt stunted them at all they still look fine i guess il just have to wait and see. At the moment ive got the thermometer in container of water in next to the plants to get a more acurate reading. Tommorow i plan to seal of the drawer to the cabinet, give her another coat of paint. Maybe add in more fans incase it gets hotter. Does anyone know of a good place to get a cheap digital thermometer the one at the hydro store was $70 but also measured humitidty.

Just checked the temperature is about a constant 80 - 85 any one reckon If this is too hot? if so i may have to lower them down a bit from the light a few inches what does every one think?

Hey everyone well today i installed to new ultra silent fans which i can run at a higher speed thus cooler room. Growth has been super slow up top but i looked at the drainage holes below and theres already roots growing out of them. photos up tommorow. what do you think i do im contemplating just putting them outside any one have any idead why vegetative growth has been so slow.

just a suggestion...you may want to disconnect those blue led's on your comp fans before you enter flowering or it could cause a not so natural disaster...unless you plan on turning them off during dark cycle, id hate to see babies suffer from an easy fix.

dg is the shiz-nite i've kept mine going for almost 2 years i place it up there with the greats only because of price and what you get out of it.
