Journal: Rubbermaid LST CFL grow

Have had some experiment plants in the past with only one experimental success from seed to harvest with 6 CFLs only yielded about 10-12 grams. It was a shitty plant that came from a bag of mexi brick weed that was fed Miracle Grow. It barely gave me a head high and due to improper flushing it smoked really harsh and burnt black hard ash and always went out. Since then i have saved seeds from the best bags i could possibly find. Now for the REAL DEAL! The seeds are from a bag of bubblegum (5) one seed is from some super sticky icky that was called Kiwi Lime.

Equipment

1. Soil (MG Moisture Control)
2. fan
3. mylar
4. two 35 gal. rubbermaid tubs
5. 6 20w 2700k CFLs
6. 1 23w 6500k CFL
7. 8 23w 2700k CFLs
8. Foxfarm Tiger Bloom (flower) and Grow Big (veg) also getting big bloom when i flower.

Problems Experienced
1. Due to first time LSTing 3 of my babies were prematurely topped.
Fishing line was no good to use when LSTing. It made small cuts that got progressively larger until it went all the way through. I am now using plastic bendy tie downs.

2. During first two weeks leaves on a few plants were turning upwards and started to develop orange and brown spots. I diagnosed this as a Mag. Deficiency gave it some Epsom salt and curling stopped. Browning and oranging has been contained to a few fan leaves.

I plan on topping all plants on the 28th then switching to flower on the 4th with an estimated harvest around new years.

will add more bulbs when flowering

the fishing line really screwed me up. my plants have been massacred . ttopped 4 too early and 2 when i wanted to. one that made it all the way turned male but one i topped at 2 nodes is a female.

i finally got big bloom. i found balls on a plant i thought was a female but it was a male. so im down to 3 plants. also i added more lights 5 days ago with 15 23 watt warm cfls.

yah that one showed sex first and stretched like crazy it was a female. it ended up being the tallest. its also budding the fastest. i did some super cropping to shorten the plant and expose the lower branches to light.

Thats funny, two stalks starting at what seems about 3 inches above the dirt lol.

That works out even better, more buds. I recently read (and meant to put the post in my notes as a reference) that you can never top to early or often. As long as you cut it above the node, it will just stay shorter and bushier. Goes really good with a cfl and/or scrog grow.

where did you find your light sockets? I've been looking for plug-ins like that and haven't been able to find them and that setup would work great in my tub grow.

i got my lights and sockets at home depot all in the lighting section.

Flower 12/12 - 14 days

plants are doing well. i took a clone of the bubblegum and a clone of the kiwi lime 15 days ago. both of them seem to be doing well. i will be using those clones as mother plants.

first two pictures are group shots and the next two are the clones.
the bubblegum is the one on the left and the kiwi lime is in the right on both the clone shots and the group shots.

these pictures are of the kiwi lime. there are tons of budding sites on this beezy. its also the shortest of the three.

these pictures are of the bubblegum plant that was topped at two nodes. (earlier then i wanted) it is budding the fastest and already has some fat buds and its the first to show trichome development. so far there are no crystals on any of the plants except this one. this one will more then likely be done the quickest.

this is the other bubblegum. this one also has tons of budding sites.
