So what spectrum's are best? In the stores I've looked I've only been able to find Soft White and Daylight CFL's. Thinking of purchasing the soft white 42 watts from Home Depot and using 26 Watt GE Daylights as well (together). Would this work/how many would I need of each for one plant?

One plant?(hope its not a male) Depends on the size you want it to get. SOFT WHITE is used for flowering while DAYLIGHT is used to growing. I would use 2 to 3 lights for flower and veg, but thats me.

The best spectrum for veg is the blue side of things (Daylight 6500k) and for flowering you want more reds (2300k). Its just making sure your plants gets right colors of lights as they change through their process. If your on a limited budget, focus mostly on the reds since you want good buds.

Honetsly....if your growing more then 1 plant...don't get cfl's, get flouro tubes...they are much more efficient, and cover a greater area. Also too using the right combo of light will get you some nice bud...tests have proven that while you may loose some yield under flouro's, the tricome production is increased by up to 30% over using HPS. To test this I grew from seed to harvest under the same lights, and I am EXTREMLY impressed with the quality. I have a setup of 10 lights, 7@5000K (natural sunlight), and 3@3000K (warm white).

Now to answer your question...you will need around 6 bulbs by the time you reach flowering inorder to get enough light to the entire plant.

I have four 26 watt soft white bulbs, going to buy another four pack when I get to Walgreens again. Just have to purchase light fixtures from Home Depot and I'll be set. The seed is breaking the soil this day!
